Considered – Report of the Community Services Group Manager.

• No change to current ways of working
This option is rejected as change is required to make the
required savings and to improve ways of working.
• Delete alternative Green Space post
This option is rejected as the other posts involved in green
space management deliver other Council services and this
would have a wider impact on the Council.
• Reduced hours for the Countryside Officer Post
This option is rejected as it would not deliver the same level of
savings and has less resilience than the preferred option.
• Consider a different provider
This option is rejected as the Council already works in
partnership with Stepping Stones and they can provide the
specialist services required.

RECOMMENDATIONS TO COUNCIL
1. That the restructuring of the management of the parks and open spaces
be approved.
2. That the Director be given delegated authority to take any consequential
action resulting from the implementation of the report.
Reason:
1. The proposed changes will deliver a fit for purpose management of parks
and open spaces and reflect the current business needs.
2. It is appropriate to give the Director delegated authority in the
circumstances specified.
