peoples’ charity operating in
the county of Bedfordshire.
Previously known as Age Concern
Bedfordshire we have been
helping older people for over 15
years with free, confidential and
objective advice to support each
individual to live independently
in safety and with choices. We
work with Bedfordshire residents
over the age of 50, their families,
friends and carers. We focus on
the individual client to ensure
their needs and wishes are
prioritised.
Our range of services include:
● Practical assistance around
the home through our home
and gardening support services
(Home Help, Handyperson and
Gardening).

They are looking for volunteers of all ages. It’s more of a book shop
at the moment. Open Monday to Saturday. They are a friendly
bunch of volunteers so if you want to make new friends please
contact us. Ages from 13.
Befriending and enabling volunteers Ref 155
Providing support to our clients, both in care homes or their own
homes, to take part in social and leisure or educational activities
enabling them to get more involved in their local communities.
Activities might include: swimming, going to the cinema/theatre,
shopping trips, going for a pub lunch, gardening, day trips etc.18+
Volunteer Mentor Ref 35
Mentors are required to support people with a range of mental
health problems. You will be asked to mentor in the East Mid Beds
area. Full training will be given. Mentoring is goal based and time
limited. Mentors also to assist individuals to engage in physical
activity. Age 18+ but particularly over 56 and availablein the day.
Emergency Volunteer Ref 190
Would you like to become a member of a group of emergency
volunteers and specialise in emergency response? If so why not
sign up as an emergency volunteer by joining the Bedfordshire and
Luton Emergency Volunteers Executive Committee (BLEVEC).
● Information and Advice on
issues like money, care, health,
housing, benefits, personal
budgets, or any other issue.
● Home visits to complete forms
for people who are housebound.
● Community Support Workers
work with clients who have
complex needs including issues
on multiple health problems,
social care, finance, debt,
benefits, housing, bereavement
or any other need.
● We advocate for our clients on
any issue they may have.
Our services are delivered in a
caring, friendly but professional
manner, through our team of
dedicated staff and volunteers.

Volunteer for out-of-school Activities Ref 191
Volunteers needed to help bringing in the sports equipment,
checking the yp in and giving them name badges, phoning parents
if young person does not arrive and
making sure young people leave with their parents. You need to 20+

Computer Mentor Ref 193
We assist clients with their search for new employment.One of the
services is training on computers in the use of the internet and office
documentation. This includes helping clients set up email addresses
and use the recently introduced Universal Job Match system.
Computer literate volunteers, who enjoy teaching computer skills,
are needed to mentor clients. This will be mainly on a 1:1 basis and
clients’ IT skills vary considerably. Based in Sandy. 18+
