Previously known as Age Concern<br />
Bedfordshire we have been<br />
helping older people for over 15<br />
years with free, confidential and<br />
objective advice to support each<br />
individual to live independently<br />
in safety and with choices. We<br />
work with Bedfordshire residents<br />
over the age of 50, their families,<br />
friends and carers. We focus on<br />
the individual client to ensure<br />
their needs and wishes are<br />
prioritised.<br />
Our range of services include:<br />
● Practical assistance around<br />
the home through our home<br />
and gardening support services<br />
(Home Help, Handyperson and<br />
Gardening).<br />

They are looking for volunteers of all ages. It’s more of a book shop<br />
at the moment. Open Monday to Saturday. They are a friendly<br />
bunch of volunteers so if you want to make new friends please<br />

Befriending and enabling volunteers Ref 155<br />
Providing support to our clients, both in care homes or their own<br />
homes, to take part in social and leisure or educational activities<br />
enabling them to get more involved in their local communities.<br />
Activities might include: swimming, going to the cinema/theatre,<br />
shopping trips, going for a pub lunch, gardening, day trips etc.18+<br />
Volunteer Mentor Ref 35<br />
Mentors are required to support people with a range of mental<br />
health problems. You will be asked to mentor in the East Mid Beds<br />
area. Full training will be given. Mentoring is goal based and time<br />
limited. Mentors also to assist individuals to engage in physical<br />
activity. Age 18+ but particularly over 56 and availablein the day.<br />
Emergency Volunteer Ref 190<br />
Would you like to become a member of a group of emergency<br />
volunteers and specialise in emergency response? If so why not<br />
sign up as an emergency volunteer by joining the Bedfordshire and<br />
Luton Emergency Volunteers Executive Committee (BLEVEC).<br />
● Information and Advice on<br />
issues like money, care, health,<br />
housing, benefits, personal<br />
budgets, or any other issue.<br />
● Home visits to complete forms<br />
for people who are housebound.<br />
● Community Support Workers<br />
work with clients who have<br />
complex needs including issues<br />
on multiple health problems,<br />
social care, finance, debt,<br />
benefits, housing, bereavement<br />
or any other need.<br />
● We advocate for our clients on<br />
any issue they may have.<br />

caring, friendly but professional<br />
manner, through our team of<br />
dedicated staff and volunteers.<br />

We assist clients with their search for new employment.One of the<br />
services is training on computers in the use of the internet and office<br />

Computer literate volunteers, who enjoy teaching computer skills,<br />
are needed to mentor clients. This will be mainly on a 1:1 basis and<br />
clients’ IT skills vary considerably. Based in Sandy. 18+<br />
