Luca di Montezemolo embodies as few people do the fi gure of the man<br />

born for glory. His name comes from the old family title of the Marchese di Montezemolo, a prominent family to<br />

which Andrea Cordero Lanza di Montezemolo, appointed cardinal in 2006, belongs too.<br />

A born leader, brilliant in his speech and diplomatic in his manners, this OPPOSITE PAGE<br />

man is the most emblematic figure in Ferrari and the FIAT Group, the largest Luca di Montezemolo’s<br />

in the field of sports: Managing Director of the Scuderia in 1974, Director of<br />

all the industrial group’s competition activities a year later and of the brand<br />

Cinzano, and also of the advertising firm Itedi, of the first Italian racing yacht<br />

in competing for the America’s Cup (the Azurra), and even of the Committee<br />

that presided Italy’s 1990 Football World Cup – almost a Renaissance man,<br />

able to engage in many activities, and efficiently in all of them.<br />

A year after the death of the founder, Enzo Ferrari, he took over the<br />

Presidency, and subsequently, also that of Maserati’s. He managed to set<br />
