Thanks from Daisy's
family for village
kindness
Ann Horne, daughter of the late Daisy
Middleditch, has been so overwhelmed by
the affectionate sympathy and kindness of
local people, following her mother's
untimely death in February, that she's
written to Village Voices to express her
thanks.
She writes: 'First of all, my thanks to
Roger, my husband, who has been my rock
through all of this. Roger and I would like
to thank everyone who sent cards and who
attended Mum's funeral on Friday 22nd
February. The large congregation was
testament to how well-known and wellliked
she was and the offers of help and
condolence were very welcome and much
appreciated.
'I don't think Mum's brothers and sisters -
who came from as far as Wiltshire,
Hampshire, Buckinghamshire and
Berkshire for the funeral – quite realised
how much she was liked around the village
and the surrounding areas. A neighbour
described Mum as 'the angel of the village'
and I don't think she was far wrong.
'I would like to extend my family's thanks
for what people have done to help Roger
and myself. I'm especially grateful to
Angie and John Mills, who were there for
both of us during the first few days and
weeks after Mum died. The kindnesses of
local people have shown us how much
Mum will be missed by friends, neighbours
and her elderly clients.' Ann Horne
