The <strong>eolian</strong> <strong>deposits</strong> in <strong>the</strong> Manakacha <strong>and</strong><br />

Wescogame Formations <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Supai Group in <strong>the</strong><br />

Gr<strong>and</strong> Canyon <strong>and</strong> Mogollon Rim are not de-<br />

scribed in <strong>the</strong> literature. Blakey (unpublished data)<br />

has studied <strong>eolian</strong> <strong>deposits</strong> in <strong>the</strong> Mogollon Rim<br />

<strong>and</strong> observed <strong>eolian</strong> strata in <strong>the</strong> Gr<strong>and</strong> Canyon<br />

as has Peterson (unpublished data). One coset <strong>of</strong><br />

probable <strong>eolian</strong> strata in <strong>the</strong> Manakacha Forma-<br />

tion was estimated to be 20 m thick. R. Hunter<br />

(pers. commun., 1985) reported to Blakey <strong>the</strong><br />

presence <strong>of</strong> <strong>eolian</strong> strata in <strong>the</strong> Supai Group <strong>of</strong><br />

Gr<strong>and</strong> Canyon. The two formations each range<br />

from 30 to 70 m thick where <strong>eolian</strong> strata are<br />

suspected <strong>and</strong> may be about half <strong>eolian</strong> in origin.<br />

Interestingly, McKee (1982) made no mention <strong>of</strong><br />

<strong>eolian</strong> <strong>deposits</strong> in <strong>the</strong> Supai Group, yet some <strong>of</strong>
