REGULAR BOARD MEETING
FEbKUARY 3, 19aj
TOHN HALL
/:3U P.M.
Tom Bluhm: Excavation was designed so that there was no dike to
be constructed to retain the water, it la a hole iri the ground,
ihere is no dike above ground. Drainage out of the pond itseit
tollows an existing arainage gully tnat traverses through the
woods as it 18 now. He did not want to propose a dixe because
It 13 raucri tougher to get that type of proposal through tne
D.E.C. basically we did not ao that. He kept everything below
tne original ground on the outside. There is no dike. The
tnree (3) teet ot lining should retain the water in there.
There is an eighteen (i8) inch corrugated steel pipe tor miriimal
overflows ana iignt rainfall. Ihere is also an overflow weir
gear design which wnl let larger quantities ot water tiow
through that. Tnat is protected by heavy stone cobbles in that
portion ot overtlow weir.
Tom Momberger: The Master Plan has soil stability in an
ditferent parts ot tne town and i thiriK it would be interesting
It triey looked at trie soil stability in tnat area. Ano it wnat
this gentleman says is true about that being aoie to retain
titteen miinon (ii;,uuO.OoO) ganons ot viater according to Mr.
Buyers calculation, i thinK tnat would be a good point tor tns
Town Engineer to taKe a IOOK at. To see it tnis property is
able to maintain that amount ot water.
Frank Lisoviksi, 5461 Shero Road: Most roads when they are
designed are usually designed on a cut an till basis, its more
economical tor one. tne same type ot fill as the soils arouna.
Its compacted trie same way ana everything else. Hhy was this
road designed three hundred thousarid (300.000) cubic yaras
short? Hhat is your ramification, meaning ot modification on
the road with the project tingineer on site before the spring
weather sets in. Hodity tnat roaa where you can mayoe cut a
little here ana you aon't nave to put this pona in. Use these
high spots your cutting off as tne tin. I don't know how long
we are on this project. 1 reany oon't Know. I Know tnat tne
trees are down, i aon't see any excavation being done or mucn
ot It yet. Hnat is tne teasiDility ot remoditying or redoing
this road a little nit so this pond doesn't nave to be dug and
the till can be garnered from on site:'
Ahdrew Forestal: He'd love to. He are not the designers.
Supervisor Kennedy: i think wnat that amounts to is that there
13 a certain grade level that tney have to maintain. You would
have a much steeper grade level than tnat, you don't have enough
tin there to maintain the graae level that is required trom tne
D.O.T. They have maximum grade levels,
I think everyone is aware of the steep roadways we have in that
particular eno ot town where you previously went down Polish
hill Road or Ptarner Road or Rice Road they are all very steep
drop ofts. It wouldn't certainly be acceptable for an access
road. That is one ot the reasons why the Fire trucks etc,
utilize Brown Hill Road, because tnere is no other roadway there
that IS really attective to service that end of the community.
This road wnen constructed wiii nave a grade level that is
acceptable.
A recommendation was made by Supervisor Kennedy to recess the
PuDiic Hearing because of factors tnat have been brought to our
attention nere to review some or your comments and to review
with the Plai.nihg Boara some ot their concerns and some ot their
comiv.ents. Also, to give the t-oara memoers and opportuvnty tc- ao
the same.
Supervisor Kennedy received can today trom Ken Tait ot tne
U.£.".C. in Clean ana they are aoinci the Si:i)R review tor this
particular project.
