REGULAR BOARD MESTIMG
TOHN HALL
7:30 P.H.
Tom Hornberger. 9000 vim.-nerman Road: As you know the hiil i»
very limitea in its water supply ana one ot the promises that
was made by their engineer tonight was that if something happens
to a well that they would do everything in their power to
correct that situation. I don't think it is in their power to
do anything to a damaged well. Once the well is damaged and the
vein is shut-off it is just about nonretrievable. There is very
little you can do other than what George said to drill three (3)
or four (4) wells and if you know the cost of drilling weiis
today it is not something that you want to get involved lu. I
know very little about this project right now because of th6
tardiness of thiacoming to the publics attention, I don't kriow
if by design or by mistake. The only thing that I am going to
comment on at this particular time is the lack of viater on tne
hill and the frailty of the water system up there and any
unnecessary digging or drilling or blasting could upset tne
delicate balance on the hill. To many people up there have tne
investment or their life and to lose a well is to lose their
property. I know everybody who lives on the hill nas gone
through dry summers, it is tough but we put up with it because
we like the area. If sometning as unnecessary as this is
brought to Zimmerman Road and the South Hill and it upsets that
delicate balance 1 tnink it woula be frivolous on tne Town
Eoaros part to vote for this because there are so many otner
tnings that could be done up there. Rather than a project ii.-ce
this. If your going to do something. Lets oo something
positive up there. Something that is going to help the people
up there. This is going to do very little for the people up
there from what I can see. It is going to benefit one family and
one construction oompariy that is not even in the town. Before
you make a decision on this I ask you to look very carefully at
this and vieigh all the facts, listen to everybody, to everybody'
point or view even though you may not think it is relevant.
Everybody has an opinion up there and to them it is an important
opinion because we are home owners up tnere. He have been up
there for a long time and we love our area. You all know me,
because we have been througn this bexore on different projecta
and I don't come dovm here unless I think it is important. 1
think it is very important that you give this your utmost
consideration before you make a determination on this. Tnank
You.
Hark Hisher, 6345 Tillen Road: On December 23, 1992. Cold
Springs applied for the permit tor mining and about a-weeK and
a half ago a Planning aoard Meeting was hela, and today tne test
noies were dug, in the middle of winter. There is a lot or talk
about shale being there. I don't know of to many ponds that can
hold water when you have a lot ot shale. How many truck loads
of clay are going to be coming through our way in order to seai
It?
Bob Van Der Horst: There will be absolutely no truckloads oi
clay. The shaie is about five (5) or six (6) feet below tne
ground surface ana below the topsoil which is about a toot
thick. You have three (3) or four (4) feet of silty clay vfhich
is water tight. That will be stored until the pond is finished
and three feet (3') of overburden will be put in the pond to
make it water tig.it.
Mark Hisher: There was mention of sixty thousand (60.000) trucx
trips. That quarter mile section of Ptarner Roaa is viot
scheduled tor any resurfacing. Hnat happens to that section or
roaa?
supervisor Kenneay: Which quarter mile oi road is that, .••iar.i:
.Marx Hisher: i'rom uhere this noie is. going to be to wnere tr;e
Viiien Koaa ana fiarner Roaa iritsrsection is. If you iook at
