n REGULAR BOARD MEETING JANUARY 20, 1993 TOWN HALL 7:30 P.M. Supervisor Kennedy asked Counoilman Flowers to look into the installation of a Street Light at the intersection of Mill St. and the new Highway. Councilman Flowers attended the Southtowns Haz/Mat meeting, their budget for 1993 is fifty-six thousand, nine hundred dollars ($56,900.00). Every attempt is being made to contain the cost of operating the Haz/Mat Team. Should grant monies be received every effort will be made to keep the cost down to all the municipalities involved. Councilman Hohlhueter scheduled a meeting for the Solid Waste Committee for Thursday, February 11, 1993 at 7:00 P.M. at which time a representative from B.P.I, will be present. Councilman Wohlhueter attended a meeting of the Southtowns Solid Waste Board and the North East Board and they are considering merging. It has been unanimous that the two boards will merge. They feel that since the County has cut back on their personnel, they will do a better job by merging. A definite decision will not be made until the end of February. A request was made by the Boston Lion's Club to reserve the use of the Lion's Shelter and the Town Park for the Annual Oktoberfest from July 19 - 24, 1993 A motion was made by Councilman Wohlhueter and seconded by Councilman Wittmeyer to grant permission to the Boston Lion's Club to use the Lion's Club Shelter and the Town Park for the Annual Oktoberfest from July 19-24, 1993. five (5) Ayes Carried Councilman Zimmerman in response to Bob Keel's letter that he wrote in late November, 1992 regarding additional space, to remind the Town Board that following this meeting we will be meeting with the Emergency Squad at their meeting room. Bob Keel, a representative from the Boston Emergency Squad presented the Town Board with a copy of their press release stating that the Boston Emergency Squad has established a special fund raising committee with a goal to raise $30,000.00 during 1993 for the purchase of two new defibrillators and 45 new pagers for Emergency Squad Activities. A motion was made by Councilman Zimmerman and seconded by Supervisor Kennedy to grant the Boston Emergency Squad permission to initiate a Fund Raising Activity. five (5) Ayes Carried Councilman Wittmeyer announced that there is a meeting of the South Boston Parks, Saturday, January 23, 1993 at 9:00 A.M. Councilman Wittmeyer reminded the Board of the inspection of the Sprague Mobile Home Community of Saturday, January 23, 1993 at 10:00 A.M. Councilman Wittmeyer advised the Board on behalf of Traffic Safety, the condition of the Boston State Road in the Hamlet of Boston is in deplorable condition. He also, requested that Supervisor Kennedy include this matter in a letter to Mr. Gugino and ask him to comie out and see if possibly that portion of the State Road could be posted this spring until something is done to improve the conditions. Once the heavy trucks begin in the spring the road will be totally destroyed. The sewer runs down the middle of the road in that area and there is a lot of quick sand. The base of the road is deteriorating very rapidly. 0 •• c A J
