REGULAR BOARD MEETING
DECEMBER 15, 1993
TOWN ATTORNEY REPORT (CONT.)
TOWN HALL
7:30 P.H.
Incoming Board merabers, Supervisor Kennedy, Counciiman Flowers and
I met with three firms interested in becoming consulting engineers
for the Town. It was agreed that certain specifications should be
drawn and certain requests should be forwarded to the engineers.
I would like to say thank you to Councilraan Zimmerman and
Councilman Wittmeyer for all the help and all the interesting
assignments and other things I have received from them. David was
most instrumental in bringing me into government. Back in 1978 he
came and talked to me because at that time Charles Maxwell was
about to retire any day. Any day was about eight or nine years
later. Thanks to Councilman wittmeyer I got to prepare ten TE9's,
complete with maps to get speed limits in the subdivisions.
Gentleman I can only express to you what has been expressed
already. It has been an extreme pleasure and an honor to have been
associated with you in the government. I have really enjoyed it.
I am going to miss both of you very much. I am going to miss
working with you very much. Take care, good luck.
COUNCILMEN REPORT
Councilraan Flowers: I must say it's been a pleasure working v/ith
both those fine gentleman down there. We're going to miss you. I
wish you good health and good wishes in whatever you do, whatever
path you choose to go. Thank you so much.
We had a raeeting with the Southtowns Haz-Mat team and the County
Legislatures about possible funding which will come through local
law. That law has gone back to comraittee and it's going to be
stuck there for quite some time until they iron out all the
details. If this local law comes about, the chances are all the
independent Haz-Mat teams in the County are going to fold up and be
required in some manner or form to join up with the County Haz-Mat
team. It is our feeling that this will be a disaster for us.
There is another tentative meeting on December 30, 1993 at the fire
academy of all the independent Haz-Mat teams in Erie County for
their input on this local law.
Councilman Wohlhueter: I want to offer ray best wishes for your
retirement from town government and speaking not only as a Town
Board Meraber but as a private citizen of the Town of Boston, I
don't think people realize the amount of time that you have put
into town service and community service. There just aren't enough
words to express all the time, comraitment and service that you have
given to Boston over the years and I just want to say thank you for
all you've done. It's been an honor working with you.
Councilman Zimmerraan: Well I suppose I should say soraething.
After twenty-two years of being in town government I have been
meeting a lot of friends and a lot of foes and enemies and a lot of
water over the dam and there' s a lot of people that should be
thanked. I am not going to try and thank every one of them but
there are a couple people that I would really like to thank and one
of them has been at my side for twenty-two years, whenever I have
made a decision, right or wrong, never any comments but I would
like to have my wife Ester stand up. Another person I would like
to thank has been my running mate for this seat the last four
times. Bud, thanks for all your help in campaigns and helping on
the Town Board and the Supervisor and his Councilman. Thanks very
much. Also I take a little pride in this room right here because
I was on the committee when we designed the Tov/n Hall and many of
the other buildings that came about in the past twenty-two years
and I wish the incoming Board and any future Boards the best of
luck and I hope that the Town progresses as well as it did in the
last twenty-two years and I'd also like to wish everyone a Merry
Christmas and a very happy New Year. I'd like to thank all the
citizens of the Town of Boston for their past support. Thank you.
