REGULAR BOARD MEETING
JULY 21, 1993
TOWN HALL
7:30 P.M.
Supervisor Kennedy: I can say yes. Because this is going to a
higher elevation that what was planned to come down the hill.
Supervisor Kennedy stated that what the Erie County water Authority
has indicated to us is they don't wish to tie together the
pressures that we'll have coming off the tank in the area of Ward
Road and/or Eddy wherever we locate that tank and the pressures
from the valley, because they are so much different. They want us
to feed down the hill so far and up the hill so far.
Supervisor Kennedy has a meeting at the Erie County Water Authority
where they are going to do some demonstration projects. At that
time he will talk with Mr. Neiderprum.
COUNCILMEN REPORT
Councilman Flowers received an inquiry from Dennis Kramer about the
possibility of getting a street light put on pole #1038-1 at the
Boston Commons he contacted NYSEG and
subsequently after that received a letter from residents and
business owners in that area.
Councilman Flowers read a letter from NYSEG advising that the
addition of a new light would not conform the established
guidelines. If an additional light was installed on pole #1038-1
certain utility facilities would need to be relocated all at the
Town of Boston's expense.
Councilman Flowers while visiting the State Police Barracks noted
that it was obsessively hot. Is there anything we can do to make
it a little bit more comfortable?
Supervisor Kennedy: We did receive a complaint from the State
Police and sent a representative over there. Maybe the system is
not adequate. We will have to look into it with the Engineer to
see if in fact the system that was installed is inadequate.
Councilman Flowers received from NYSEG a facilities inventory of
the lights that the Town of Boston is paying for. After checking
everything they say is suppose to be, is. He will keep doing spot
checks.
Councilman Flowers went to a Formerly Utilized Sites Remedial
Action Program Information Serainar put on by the U.S. Department of
Energy. This was for the clean-up of radioactive waste in
Tonawanda. The State of New York is going to designate an area as
a radioactive waste storage area. Being realistic it is going to
be West Valley. If the Department of Energy decides to clean-up
this particular area which was used for development of the Atomic
bomb, they have radioactive waste that has to be moved someplace.
His concern was that this waste would have to pass through the Town
of Boston. He was assured that no nuclear waste would come through
the Town of Boston on the Department of Energy say-so. If they
decide to remove all the hazardous materials and the nuclear waste
that is there it will be shipped to a Federal Depository someplace
out west.
