Summary of Accounts 2011/2012
Where we
spent the
money….
Each year Runnymede
Council publishes a set of
accounts. The accounts
are an important element
in demonstrating how we
manage our fnances. They
show the resources available
to the Council and how they
are used in providing services
to the community.
The Statement of Accounts
contains the full accounting
information for 2011-12. This
has to comply with accounting
rules which dictate how
the accounts should look
and what information they
should contain. It is subject
to an independent audit by
KPMG LLP. A full copy of the
Statement of Accounts can be
seen on the Council’s website
at www.runnymede.gov.uk
Our expenditure fgures for
2011/12 were higher than
usual due to the inclusion of a
one off payment of £103.292m
Balance sheet as at 31 March 2012
The balance sheet shows
the fnancial position of the
whole Council at 31 March
2012. It discloses the
valuations of our assets, ie.
• how much money the
Council has in the bank
• how much money is
owed to us.
• how much we owe
other parties.
This is the net worth of
Runnymede Council. Part of
our net worth is represented
by reserves of £12million that
are available to pay for new
capital projects and balances
on our revenue accounts.
to central government following
the introduction of a new
housing fnance system.
This system means that the
Council will now be able to
keep all of its housing rental
income (rather than paying
it over to the government)
thereby enabling the council
