Informations for OVERNIGHT GUESTS of the Zermatt Igloo-VillageS
Please read this document carefully in order to be properly prepared for the Igloo-Village experience.
About Zermatt
Zermatt lies at the foot of Switzerland’s famous landmark, the Matterhorn, in the Pennine
Alps in southern Switzerland at an altitude of 1,600m. Starting in the car-free town
– where horse-drawn carriages and electromobiles are the sole means of transport –
you take the Gornergrat railway in the direction of the highest Igloo-Village of them all.
Wild mountain romance and pure joy of iglooing in the midst of the most magnificent
Alpine panorama!
Important notes
Please plan enough extra time to ensure you arrive at the meeting point specified in the
programme on time and unhurriedly.
The mountain railways are not responsible for transporting your luggage.
If you are late, please let us know immediately on

you so that we can contact you if need be (especially during your outward journey).

In the booking included
Journey up the mountain with the Gornergrat railway.Get out at
Riffelberg station (NOT Riffelalp).
Arrive PUNCTUALLY at the meeting point in the HOTEL Riffelberg
(NOT Restaurant Riffelberg) for the welcome/instruction by our
guides.
Short hike to the Igloo-Village (around 10 minutes’ walk). Arrival at
the Igloo-Village and settle in to the igloo rooms. Then activities in
and around the igloo with aperitif, evening meal (around 7:00 p.m.),
snow-shoe trek, pool and a cosy get-together.
Ricola wake-up tea served to you in your sleeping bag, then a hike
to the Hotel Riffelberg.
Breakfast in the mountain restaurant and individual departure.

Igloo
Your equipment
The Igloo-Village nestles in the heart of nature
on the mountain. Make sure you are properly
equipped. Normally the temperatures in the
Igloo-Village remain constant at around freezing.
Clothing and equipment:
• Winter-proof, warm clothing (such as
for skiing, see picture above)
• Comfortable, warm winter shoes (e.g.
snowboard shoes, NO moonboots)
• Good gloves
• Dry socks, long underwear
to change into, also pyjamas
• Two hats (second spare hat in case
first hat gets wet in the whirlpool)
• Towel, swimwear and
flip flops for the whirlpool if required
• A torch or head torch
• Toothbrush (tooth brushing is possible)
• Cash (no credit cards)
• Sunglasses and sun cream
(for outward and homeward journey)
A backpack is the ideal item of luggage for the
overnight stay in the Igloo-Village
Please do NOT bring the following
• An expedition sleeping bag and a
sleeping bag liner will be provided for
you
• Suitcase (unsuitable)
luggage deposit
We do not recommend that you take more
equipment with you than is listed in the
“Equipment” column as there is only very
limited capacity and no lockers in the Igloo-
Village.
Any luggage not required for the night in the
igloo can be deposited in the Hotel Riffelberg
free of charge until breakfast the next morning.
Skis/snowboards can be deposited in front of
the Igloo-Village. There is a warm room for
shoes.

In Zermatt
Train:
Arrival at Zermatt station ��and walk 50 metres to the Gornergrat railway valley
station ��.
Car:
1st option: Arrive in Täsch and switch to train for 15-minute onward journey to
Zermatt ��. Please take a train out of Täsch by 3:30 p.m.
2nd option: Arrive in Täsch and onward journey by taxi to the village entrance
of Zermatt. Each parking garage offers a taxi service. Then a walk of around 10
minutes or take an electrotaxi to the valley station of the Gornergrat railway ��.
From the Gornergrat railway valley station to Riffelberg station (around 30 minutes)
where the Hotel Riffelberg meeting point is located.
Please buy a ticket to Rotenboden.
Mountain railway
tickets
Please buy a return ticket to the
station “Rotenboden” for the journey
up the mountain from Zermatt with
the Gornergrat railway.
Although you need to get out at the
Riffelberg station for the meeting
point, we will then continue the
journey with the Gornergrat railway
for a further station.
If you ski, the day passes for the
respective day (arrival and/
or departure day) are of course valid
for the journey with the Gornergrat
railway.
