1. Design - a) Basic lines<br />

b) Colour-Wheel, tints and tones, combinations and schemes.<br />

c) Texture-Textural combinations with fibric samples.<br />

2. Sketching - a) Floral and Geometrical motifs.<br />

b) Block Figure, Flesh figure, Normal and Fashion figure.<br />

c) Composition of figures with pencil shading and colour media.<br />

d) Flesh figures with garments for ladies and children keeping in view the<br />

modern trends of fashion.<br />

3. Taking body measurements, their sequence and application in drafting and cutting.<br />

4. Drafting child's bodice block.<br />

Time: 3 hrs Semester-II M. Marks : 50<br />

1. Drafting child's sleeve block.<br />

2. Adjustment in block pattern of children.<br />

3. Drafting lady's bodice block.<br />

4. Drafting lady's sleeve block.<br />

5. Adjustment in block pattern of ladies.<br />

6. Making paper pattern of basic bodice block, sleeves and collars.<br />

All practicals to be recorded in file along with procedures, analysis and samples.<br />

Semester-I<br />

1. Tools and equipments for sewing Ironing and finishing.<br />

2. Sewing machine :<br />

a) Types - Hand, Tradle and Motorized ; main parts, their operations and safety measures.<br />

b) Different types of stitching adjustments attachments and their uses.<br />

c) Minor defects and their remedies.<br />

d) Sewing threads - their number, sizes and uses with relation to needle and cloth.<br />

3. Basic processes for garment making -<br />

a) Basic stitches - Basting, Running stitch, Back stitch, Blanket stitch, Button-hole.<br />

Hemming, Slip stitch, Whipping, Lock stitch.<br />

b) Decorative stitches - Lazy-daisy, Chain, Stain stitch, Herring bone, Feather-long and short,<br />

French knot, Patch work. Mirror work Cross stitch and Beading.<br />

c) Seams and seam finishes - Plain seam, Counter hem seam, Lapped seam, Run and fell<br />

seam.<br />
