PAPER-II FRUIT PRODUCTION<br />

1. Visit to an orchard, study of features and identification of fruits crops.<br />

2. Lay out of orchards by different systems of planting.<br />

3. Digging of pits, refilling the pits for planting of important fruit crops.<br />

4. Raising of seedings of fruit crops.<br />

5. Planting of fruit trees.<br />

6. Methods of training and pruning of fruit crops.<br />

SEMESTER-II<br />

7. Application of manures and fertilizers for fruit crops.<br />

8. Identification and control of insect pest-mango/guava/citrus/pear/peach and ber.<br />

9. Identification and control of diseases in important fruit crops.<br />

10. Study of special problems like malformation in mango/citrus decline.<br />

11. Grading and packaging of fruits.<br />

12. Organoleptic evaluation of cultivars of fruit crops.<br />

PAPER-III VEGETABLE PRODUCTION<br />

Syllabus Internal Assessment: 10<br />

Semester-I Total Marks: 40<br />

1. Importance of vegetables and their role in human diet.<br />

2. Present status and future scope of vegetable production in Punjab.<br />

3. Classification of vegetables based upon climate zone parts used in food, cultural practices.<br />

4. Types and system of vegetable growing including protected cultivation and cropping sequence. Type<br />

of vegetable garden, kitchen garden and market gardens.<br />

5. Nursery raising for vegetables crops.<br />

Time:2 hrs Theory Marks: 30<br />

Syllabus Internal Assessment: 15<br />

Semester-II Total Marks: 45<br />

6. Commercial cultivation of the following in respect to climate, soil, varieties, planting method,<br />

irrigation, weed control, plant protection, harvesting and grading: Tomato, brinjal, chilli, okra,<br />

watermelon, muskmelon, cucumber, gourds, potato, onion, garlic, pea, cauliflower, cabbage,<br />

radish, carrot, spinach, lettuce vegetables of local importance.<br />

7. Seed production in important vegetable crops like tomato, cauliflower, chilli, peas, onion, radish,<br />

watermelon and potato.<br />

PAPER-III VEGETABLE PRODUCTION<br />

SEMESTER-I<br />

1. Visit to vegetable farms and identification of vegetable crops.<br />

2. Identification of various vegetable seeds.<br />

3. Lay out and soil sterilization for vegetable nurseries.
