LATHE MACHINE AND OPERATIONS<br />

I. Holding of job in four jaw chuck, contering with the help of check method, scriber and cutting<br />

tool.<br />

II. Setting the tool in tool port : Plain turning, facing and parting off M.M.S Dies as per given<br />

III. Step turning on M.S. Bar, as per dimensions given by teacher.<br />

I. To do grinding of single point cutting tool according to specific geometry.<br />

II. Taper turning and knurrling and chamfering, threading.<br />

III. Drilling and Boring.<br />

IV. To practice on dismantling and assembling of different accessories and case and maintenance of<br />

III. FERROUS METALS<br />

Mineral ores, Different types of ores of metallurgical. Definitions, Description of pig iron. Process,<br />

working of Blast furnance, typed cast iron, wrought iron: composition, Properties and uses. Steel:<br />

composition, properties and uses.<br />

IV. STEEL AND ALLOYSTEEL :<br />

Introduction: Composition of MS in %age of properties and uses of steel manufacturing of<br />

carbon steel. Basic constituents of steel, Iron-Carbon equilibrium Diagram, Composition,<br />

properties and uses of special alloy steel such as - chromium, nickel, stainless steel High<br />

carbon steel, High speed steel, Molybdenum, tungsten and vanadium steel.<br />

II. MECHANICAL WORKING OF METALS<br />

Introduction, Mechanical working (Process), Hot working, Principle methods of hot working i.e.<br />

Roling (Hot and Cold) Drawing, extracting and Forging (only drop Forging).
