INVITATION FOR RESEARCH PROPOSALS<br />

Research Committee invites applications for Research<br />

Projects from members and others for carrying out<br />

research in the field of accounting and other affiliated<br />

fields for e.g. accounting for chain departmental<br />

stores, accounting in health care industry, accounting<br />

for electricity generation and distribution companies,<br />

accounting in aviation industry, accounting for shipping<br />

companies, management control systems, approaches<br />

to social cost-benefit analysis in the Indian<br />

context, etc. <strong>The</strong> Committee would provide financial<br />

support for the approved Research Projects.<br />

<strong>The</strong> Eligibility Criteria<br />

(a) <strong>The</strong> applicant must be a member of the Institute<br />

of <strong>Chartered</strong> <strong>Accountant</strong>s of India with a research<br />

aptitude having at least 10 years of postqualification<br />

experience either in the practice of<br />

the profession or as an employee with a reputed<br />

manufacturing/service organisation; or<br />

(b) <strong>The</strong> applicant must be holding a post-graduate<br />

degree from a recognised University or an institute<br />

of national repute and must have at least 10<br />

years research and/or teaching experience;<br />

Applications from persons having an experience less<br />

than as stated above may also be considered on the<br />

basis of merit.<br />

<strong>The</strong> Evaluation Criteria<br />

Only those research proposals will be accepted that<br />

result in formulation of guidance material in the form<br />

of Technical Guide, Studies, Monographs for the<br />

members of the Institute in accounting and allied areas,<br />

such as the following:<br />

l the issues on which no accounting standards are<br />

available or<br />

Museum of the Institute<br />

l the issues that may arise in the implementation<br />

of accounting standards and other pronouncements<br />

in the industry-specific situations.<br />

Duration<br />

<strong>The</strong> duration of research project should not exceed<br />

3 months from the date of the approval of the research<br />

proposal unless a longer period is otherwise<br />

justified.<br />

Documents to be submitted with the research<br />

proposal<br />

<strong>The</strong> proposal should be accompanied by a<br />

l Complete bio-data including experience in the<br />

relevant field of interest.<br />

l Synopsis of the project explicitly specifying<br />

the objective, scope and issues that would be<br />

addressed in the final proposed document. It<br />

should also contain a justification for the proposal<br />

and the detailed chapter plan.<br />

<strong>The</strong> proposal should also indicate the estimated expenditure<br />

and expected honorarium for this purpose.<br />

<strong>The</strong> amounts in this regard would be remitted on the<br />

final acceptance of the draft by the Research Committee.<br />

Attention of members are invited that it has been decided to have an "Accountancy Museum" which can enable<br />

students and members to explore collections for inspiration, learning and enjoyment. You are therefore requested to<br />

provide any such item, viz., historic press clippings, mementoes, any document whose heritage needs to be shared<br />

with others, classic photographs and ancient paintings related to the Institute and the profession, handicrafts having<br />

any link with the culture heritage of our Institute, stamps, video shoots, posters etc, or an item which according to you<br />

may be preserved and displayed in the said museum for the inspiration of our coming generations<br />

In case the material to be sent is delicate/bulky and, thus, needs extra care, you may inform us and the suitable<br />

arrangement for collecting the same shall be made.<br />
