Baitursunov, A. (1873-1937) - Kazakh poet, journalist, linguist, one <strong>of</strong> the leaders <strong>of</strong> the bourgeois-<br />

nationalistic party »Alash«. 1919 member <strong>of</strong> the Kirghiz (Kazakh) Revolutionary Military Committee. 1920 vice-<br />

chairman <strong>of</strong> the Kirghiz (Kazakh) Revolutionary Committee. 1925 lecturer <strong>of</strong> Kirghiz (Kazakh) University in<br />

Alma-Ata. He was arrested in 1929, banished to Solovki, 8 years later he returned to Alma-Ata where he was<br />

shot in 1937.<br />

Bekh-Ivanov. G. G. State and party figure <strong>of</strong> the Republic <strong>of</strong> Turkestan, <strong>of</strong> Russian nationality. 1920 member<br />

<strong>of</strong> the party court <strong>of</strong> Turkestan, member <strong>of</strong> the Presidium and the secretary <strong>of</strong> the CEC <strong>of</strong> Turkestan. 1921<br />

functionary <strong>of</strong> the representation <strong>of</strong> Turkestan in Moscow. 1924 representative <strong>of</strong> the People’s Commissariat <strong>of</strong><br />

Foreign Trade <strong>of</strong> the USSR in Central Asia, then at work in the agriculture field in Kirghizia, Uzbekistan and<br />

Tajikistan. 1929 representative on State grain purchase in Tajikistan (later removed from this post).<br />

Eliava, Sh. Z. (1883-1937). State and party figure. In February 1919 chairman <strong>of</strong> the Special Temporary<br />

Commission <strong>of</strong> the CPC <strong>of</strong> the RSFSR on Turkoman Affairs. October 1919 - July 1920 chairman <strong>of</strong> the Turkoman<br />

Commission (Turkcommission) <strong>of</strong> the All-Russian Central Executive Committee and the Sovnarkom <strong>of</strong> the<br />

RSFSR, the plenipotentiary representative <strong>of</strong> the RSFSR in Turkey and Persia. In August 1920 member <strong>of</strong> the<br />

Turkoman Bureau (Turkbiuro) <strong>of</strong> the Central Committee <strong>of</strong> the Russian <strong>Communist</strong> Party (Bolsheviks) or the<br />

CC <strong>of</strong> the RCP (B). 1923 chairman <strong>of</strong> the CPC <strong>of</strong> Georgia. 1927 chairman <strong>of</strong> the CPC <strong>of</strong> the Transcaucasian<br />

Soviet Federal Socialist Republic. Candidate member <strong>of</strong> the CC <strong>of</strong> the <strong>Communist</strong> Party <strong>of</strong> the Soviet Union (B)<br />

- CPSU (B) from 1927. 1931 substitute <strong>of</strong> the People’s Commissar <strong>of</strong> Foreign Trade <strong>of</strong> the USSR. 1936 -<br />

substitute <strong>of</strong> the People’s Commissar <strong>of</strong> Light Industry <strong>of</strong> the USSR. Subjected to repression. Rehabilitated in<br />

1956.<br />

Fyn (Fen) Yuisian (1882-1948). Chinese general. October 1924 head <strong>of</strong> the revolution in Peking, commander-<br />

in-chief <strong>of</strong> the national armies and commander <strong>of</strong> the First National Army in Northern China. 1926, after a trip<br />

to the USSR, he entered the »Gomindan« party. Further military and party posts. Died in an accident.<br />

Khodzhaev, N. I. (1885-1942). Uzbek national figure. 1918-1919 member <strong>of</strong> the Central Committee (CC), the<br />

Mussulman Bureau, the Territorial Committee <strong>of</strong> the <strong>Communist</strong> Party <strong>of</strong> Turkestan and the Central Executive<br />

Committee (CEC) <strong>of</strong> Turkestan. September 1919 vice-chairman <strong>of</strong> the Turkoman CEC. 1920 in the staff <strong>of</strong> the<br />

Central Control Commission (CCC) <strong>of</strong> the <strong>Communist</strong> Party <strong>of</strong> Turkestan. After the Civil War member <strong>of</strong> the<br />

Turkestan CEC. In 1931 he graduated from the economic faculty <strong>of</strong> the Central Asian State University and<br />

became a member <strong>of</strong> the Presidium <strong>of</strong> the State Planning Committee (Gosplan) <strong>of</strong> Uzbekistan. 1932 chairman<br />

<strong>of</strong> the Committee on protection <strong>of</strong> monuments <strong>of</strong> the ancient time and art <strong>of</strong> Uzbekistan.<br />

Kuibyshev, V. V. (1888-1935). State and party figure. 1919-1920 vice-chairman and chairman <strong>of</strong> the<br />

Turkcommission and plenipotentiary representative <strong>of</strong> the RSFSR in the People’s Republic <strong>of</strong> Bokhara. 1922<br />

secretary <strong>of</strong> the CC <strong>of</strong> the RCP (B). 1923 chairman <strong>of</strong> the CCC <strong>of</strong> the CPSU (B) and People’s Commissar <strong>of</strong> WPI<br />

<strong>of</strong> the USSR, simultaneously vice-chairman <strong>of</strong> the CPC and the PLDC <strong>of</strong> the USSR in January - November 1926.
