By maintaining this site the <strong>International</strong> Contact Group aims to promote academic research in the archives <strong>of</strong><br />

the former Soviet Union, especially by younger scholars, on issues <strong>of</strong> historical political economy including<br />

topics in economic history, economic and political institutions, and decision-making <strong>of</strong> all kinds, and also<br />

research on comparative and international lines. In conjunction with the University <strong>of</strong> Warwick’s Department <strong>of</strong><br />

Economics, the <strong>International</strong> Contact Group disseminates new research through the PERSA Working Papers.<br />

<strong>The</strong> on-line edition <strong>of</strong> the <strong>Communist</strong> History Network <strong>Newsletter</strong> (CHNN) is a twice-yearly publication<br />

concerned with all aspects <strong>of</strong> current historical research into the life and work <strong>of</strong> communists and communist<br />

parties across the world. <strong>The</strong> CHNN serves both as a means <strong>of</strong> contact between researchers active in this area<br />

and a forum for sharing the results <strong>of</strong> new research. <strong>The</strong> <strong>Newsletter</strong> includes reports on conferences, recently<br />

completed theses and ‘work in progress’, details on new archival findings and other sources, and reviews <strong>of</strong><br />

new publications in the field. <strong>The</strong> CHNN is made available in three formats: on-line, as a paper document and<br />
