Men, you two wizards, away from here in the Night Land you two<br />

It is the very thing you two adorn yourselves with. It is merely a<br />

snake that has come to put the unportant thing under him. They<br />

are but ghosts that have caused it.<br />

Now then! Ha, now you two have come to hsten, you Two Little<br />

Men, you two wizards, away from here in the Night Land you two<br />

are staying.<br />

In the middle of the day they have let the important things down.<br />

You two have come to take it away as you two come by. It is the<br />

very thing you two adorn yourselves with. You two have put it<br />

away over there in the black boxes that are kept in the Night Land.<br />

This is another formula for the same purpose as No. 5, page 175.<br />

[The reference to the Two Little Men adorning themselves with<br />

snakes, and the very reason for their being invoked in snake diseases<br />

real or dreamed—is accounted for by a Cherokee myth. (Cf . Mooney,<br />

Myths, p. 31L)] According to this myth, the natural son of the<br />

Thunder, on arriving at boyhood, sets out toward the southwest in<br />

search of his father, who had abandoned him in infancy. After many<br />

adventures, he finally presents himself before his father, who first<br />

cures him of a loathsome sldn disease, by throwing him into a pot of<br />

boiling water, and then leading him to a covered box, bids him put in<br />

his hand and take out the necklaces and other ornaments with which<br />
