language, where it is always referred to as :<br />

"the important thing," ulsGe*'Do°.<br />

"Death" is referred to in the ritual language as y^so'^Do"^ a word<br />

which in the tribal language always has the meaning of "night-<br />

passed."<br />

tstyg'^nista'^neJa' which in the tribal language means: "I hit him,"<br />

in the ritual language conveys the professional idea of performing<br />

passes, of massaging.<br />

Although many more examples could be adduced, it is considered<br />

that those given have amply proved the point; those that are held<br />

over will be worked out and incorporated in the sketch of the Cherokee<br />

grammar on which work is well advanced.
