leaves and cause blemishes on the fruit.
Recently temperatures have slightly cooled
down and a newly introduced disease called
downy mildew is devastating impatiens in the
landscape. Cool temperatures combined with
high humidity provide ideal conditions for
downy mildew. This disease is rather easy to
detect, as the most common symptom is a
downy white growth on the underside of leaves.
Be certain to inspect plants before purchasing
them, as the disease is very difficult to control
and results in plant death.
