leaves and cause blemishes on the fruit.<br />

Recently temperatures have slightly cooled<br />

down and a newly introduced disease called<br />

downy mildew is devastating impatiens in the<br />

landscape. Cool temperatures combined with<br />

high humidity provide ideal conditions for<br />

downy mildew. This disease is rather easy to<br />

detect, as the most common symptom is a<br />

downy white growth on the underside <strong>of</strong> leaves.<br />

Be certain to inspect plants before purchasing<br />

them, as the disease is very difficult to control<br />

and results in plant death.<br />
