(3) Documentation of the amount of presently uncommitted reclaimed water supply
that is currently generated and is projected to be generated by the treatment
plant over the duration of the permit.
(4) Information regarding whether or not a local ordinance concerning use of
that delineates the zone.
The Village Wellington has complied with the SFWMD requirements as the Village’s
Wellington’s Wastewater Reuse Feasibility study was completed and submitted to
SFWMD in 2006. The Village Wellington shall continue to coordinate future water
conservation efforts with the SFWMD. In addition, the Village Wellington will continue to
support and modify existing goals, objectives and policies in the comprehensive plan
that promotes water conservation in a cost-effective and environmentally sensitive
manner. The Village Wellington will continue to actively support the SFWMD in the
implementation of new regulations or programs that are designed to conserve water
year round.
The Intergovernmental Coordination Element of the Village’s Wellington’s
Comprehensive Plan, states that the Village Wellington shall continue coordination with
Palm Beach County, the Village of Royal Palm Beach and the SFWMD in order to
update the Work Plan as will be periodically necessary.
The Village Wellington is a member of the Intergovernmental Plan Amendment Review
Committee (IPARC). This is a group consisting of representatives of local governments
that meets regularly to discuss and address local, regional and statewide issues. IPARC
provides a forum for the Village Wellington to analyze, evaluate and share information
that may further the goals of the Lower East Coast Water Supply Plan and the Village’s
Wellington’s Work Plan.
3.7.2 Local Government Specific Actions, Programs, Regulations, or
Opportunities
The Village Wellington has instituted a number of initiatives promoting SFWMD
measures and has been one of the most proactive municipalities in South Florida in
addressing water conservation. Since 1999 the Village Wellington has enforced
ordinances limiting the hours for watering, adopted and enforced Florida Building Code
low flow plumbing fixture standards, implemented the use of reclaimed water for
irrigation, encouraged the use of native landscaping and implemented water
conservation educational programs. By these actions the Village Wellington has
significantly reduced raw water demand.
The Village Wellington currently is using reclaimed water for irrigation at Village Park
and has begun Phase Two of the reuse plan by adding reclaimed water lines to irrigate
