Objective 1.6 Water Conservation:<br />

The Village Wellington has achieved past objectives of reducing water consumption.<br />

The Village Wellington shall adhere to and implement water conservations programs,<br />

measures, strategies as detailed in the Water Supply Facilities 10 Year Work Plan.<br />

Policy 1.6.1 The Village Wellington shall regularly explore and adopt new<br />

methods, strategies and ideas for increasing water conservation.<br />

Policy 1.6.2 The Village Wellington shall continue to promote education programs<br />

for residential, commercial and other uses which will discourage waste and conserve<br />

potable water. [9J-5.011 (2) (c) 3]<br />

Objective 1.7 Managed Growth:<br />

The Village Wellington has adopted land development regulations that direct growth into<br />

areas served by urban services. The Village Wellington shall continue to ensure that<br />

growth is of a quality equal to or better than the existing community, discourages urban<br />

sprawl, protects environmental and archeological resources, ensures the availability of<br />

suitable land for required utility services and the density and intensity are consistent<br />

with the other Goals, Objectives and Policies contained in this plan including the Work<br />

Plan. This objective shall be made measurable through implementation and monitoring<br />

of Goals, Objectives, and Policies within the Comprehensive Plan.<br />

Policy 1.7.1 The Village Wellington shall direct future growth to areas within the<br />

Village’s Wellington’s established Urban Service Area to maximize the use of existing<br />

and future infrastructure.<br />

Policy 1.7.2 The Village Wellington shall not pay for the extension of water and<br />

sewer service to areas outside of its Urban Service Boundary nor shall neighborhood<br />

parks be provided outside this boundary. Water service may be extended to areas<br />

outside of the Urban Service Area only at the expense of individual property owners and<br />

subject to availability as determined by the Village of Wellington and in a manner<br />

consistent with the Work Plan. These regulations shall be made part of the Village’s<br />

Wellington’s Land Development Regulations. Land development regulations shall be<br />

adopted and implemented consistent with the requirements of Chapter 163. F.S., and<br />

Rule 9J-5, F.A.C.<br />
