SCHOOL FACILITIES AND EQUESTRIAN ELEMENTS; AUTHORIZING THE TRANSMITTAL OF
THE AMENDMENT TO THE FLORIDA DEPARTMENT OF ECONOMIC OPPORTUNITY;
AUTHORIZING THE MANAGER TO AMEND THE COMPREHENSIVE PLAN; AND PROVIDING

REQUEST: Second Reading requesting Council approval to adopt amendments to the
Comprehensive Plan to incorporate text changes to address the repeal of Chapter 9J-5 of the
Florida Administrative Code, ensuring consistency in wording of "Village" throughout the plan and
ensuring consistency between Wellington's Comprehensive Plan and zoning districts as described
herein.
EXPLANATION: This is the request to amend the Comprehensive Plan to incorporate text changes
which eliminate Chapter 9J-5 of the Florida Administrative Code (FAC) references. Rule 9J-5, FAC,
was repealed by the Florida Legislature through the adoption of Chapter 2011-139, Laws of Florida.
In order to be consistent throughout the document, Staff has removed all “Village” references
throughout the Plan and replaced with “Wellington”, except where referred to as “the Village of
Wellington”.
Additional changes include:
� Deletion of Medical Commercial Land Use building coverage
� Ensuring consistency with Ordinance 2010-21, Residential Renaissance Overlay Zoning
District
