• Ke Ali‘i Pauahi Foundation<br />
Ke Ali‘i Pauahi Foundation administers scholarships<br />
with various eligibility criteria that are merit-based<br />
and/or need-based. The Foundation may administer<br />
scholarship for o<strong>the</strong>r organizations whose mission or<br />
purpose is consistent with those <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Foundation<br />
and Kamehameha Schools. Application forms and<br />

• Native Hawai‘ian Higher Education Program<br />
Funded by <strong>the</strong> U.S. Department <strong>of</strong> Education and<br />
administered by <strong>the</strong> ‘Aha Punana Leo. The goal <strong>of</strong> this<br />
program is to support Native Hawai‘ians in pursuit<br />
<strong>of</strong> post-secondary education in Hawai‘i and <strong>the</strong><br />
Continental U.S. This scholarship will enable students to<br />
successfully complete <strong>the</strong>ir course <strong>of</strong> study and acheive<br />
fluency in <strong>the</strong> Hawai‘ian language, to be utilized in<br />
<strong>the</strong>ir chosen pr<strong>of</strong>essions within <strong>the</strong> communities that<br />
have provided family based sustenance to <strong>the</strong> student’s<br />
education process. In support <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> aforementioned<br />
educational goal, students in receipt <strong>of</strong> this scholarship<br />
are required to study Hawai‘ian language. For more<br />

• Panaewa Hawai‘ian Home Lands<br />
Community Association Scholarship<br />
Two $150 and two $250 scholarships awarded annually<br />
to dependents <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Panaewa Hawai‘ian Home Lands<br />
Community Association (PHHLCA) members. The<br />
applicant’s parents must have been a member <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong><br />
PHHLCA for at least two years. Application forms may<br />
be obtained from <strong>the</strong> UH Hilo-Financial Aid <strong>Office</strong><br />

• Zonta International Jane M. Klausman Women In<br />
Business Scholarship<br />
Zonta International Jane M. Klausman Women In<br />
Business Scholarship is awarded to women studying<br />
business at <strong>the</strong> undergraduate level who have<br />
demonstrated outstanding potential in <strong>the</strong> field.<br />
The Zonta Club <strong>of</strong> Hilo scholarship is $1000. The<br />
recipient is also entered in <strong>the</strong> next level and may be<br />
eligible for additional awards. Complete applications<br />
must be received by <strong>the</strong> Zonta Club <strong>of</strong> Hilo, P.O.<br />
Box 1915, Hilo, HI 96721 by May 1st. General<br />

• AmeriCorps National Service<br />
In exchange for a year <strong>of</strong> service, AmeriCorps<br />
members receive an education award <strong>of</strong> $4,725<br />
to help pay <strong>of</strong>f student loans or help finance <strong>the</strong>ir<br />
education. During term <strong>of</strong> service, AmeriCorps<br />
members earn a living allowance and may qualify<br />
to defer <strong>the</strong>ir existing student loans. For more<br />

Applications for specific scholarships are available from<br />
<strong>the</strong> UH Hilo Financial Aid <strong>Office</strong> (unless o<strong>the</strong>rwise<br />
indicated) during <strong>the</strong> fall and spring semesters for <strong>the</strong><br />
succeeding academic year.<br />
Application deadline dates generally range from<br />
February 1 to March 1.<br />
