Dodo Family Endowed Excellence Scholarship<br />
Recipients must be full-time or part-time undergraduates<br />
enrolled in any area <strong>of</strong> study, with a GPA <strong>of</strong> 3.5 or<br />
higher. Some financial need is required.<br />
Faliuwseuw Endowed Scholarship<br />
This scholarship provides support to students from Fais<br />
Island, Yap State in <strong>the</strong> Federated States <strong>of</strong> Micronesia.<br />
Recipients must be full-time citizens <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Federated<br />
States <strong>of</strong> Micronesia who were born and raised on Fais<br />
Island. Students must have financial need and a<br />
minimum 2.5 GPA. The amount <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> scholarships will<br />
be based on <strong>the</strong> availability <strong>of</strong> funds.<br />
• James W. & Eleanor B. Frierson Endowed<br />
Scholarship Fund<br />
Enrolled ei<strong>the</strong>r full-time or part-time. A written<br />
statement on student's background and how an English<br />
major or concentration will help to fulfill his/her career<br />
aspirations. Some degree <strong>of</strong> financial need. Preference<br />
will be given to students who come from a disadvantaged<br />
background.<br />
• Geography Founders Scholarship<br />
Supports full-time undergraduate students <strong>of</strong> sophomore<br />
standing or above majoring in geography. Must have a<br />
minimum 3.0 GPA and demonstrate financial need.<br />
Preference shall be given to graduates <strong>of</strong> high schools in<br />
<strong>the</strong> state <strong>of</strong> Hawai‘i.<br />
• UHH Gersting Scholarship<br />
Must be enrolled full-time as undergraduates enrolled<br />
in <strong>the</strong> Computer Science Department. Students must<br />
demonstrate an active role in promoting, sharing, and<br />
fur<strong>the</strong>ring <strong>the</strong> field <strong>of</strong> computer science on <strong>the</strong> Big<br />
Island <strong>of</strong> Hawai‘i that may include voluntary computer<br />
services or tutoring.<br />
• Hawai‘i Educational Opportunity Fund<br />
One or more scholarships awarded annually to full or<br />
part-time undergraduate students, with preference given<br />
to residents <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Big Island. Recipients must have a<br />
minimum GPA <strong>of</strong> 3.0 and some degree <strong>of</strong> financial<br />
need.<br />
• Hawai‘i Florists & Shippers Association Endowed<br />
Scholarship Fund<br />
Hawai‘i residents enrolled full-time with <strong>the</strong> College<br />
<strong>of</strong> Agriculture, Forestry, and Natural Resource<br />
Management with an emphasis in floriculture and/or<br />
ornamental production. Minimum 3.0 GPA required<br />

with some degree <strong>of</strong> financial need. First year students<br />
are not eligible to apply.<br />
• Hawai‘i Veteran’s Memorial Fund<br />
$350 or more scholarships awarded annually to UH<br />
Hilo students with minimum cumulative GPAs <strong>of</strong> 2.5<br />
for Freshmen/Sophomores and 2.75 for Juniors/Seniors.<br />
Must be a Hawai‘i resident. Renewable but must apply<br />
annually.<br />
• Charles R. Hemenway Scholarship<br />
Scholarships ranging from $200 to $2000 are awarded<br />
each year. Recipients must be Hawai‘i residents with<br />
verifiable Community/School service activities.<br />
Four-year renewable but must apply annually.<br />
• Hilo High School Class <strong>of</strong> 1940 Scholarship<br />
One or more $750 scholarships awarded annually to a<br />
graduating senior from Hilo High School.<br />

IFSA Global Scholarship<br />
This scholarship supports first generation college<br />
students, preferably from Hawai‘i, who are participating<br />
in a study abroad program. Eligible students must<br />
achieve a minimum 3.0 GPA and demonstrate some<br />
degree <strong>of</strong> financial need.<br />
Daniel K. Inouye Endowed Scholarship in<br />
Astronomy<br />
The scholarship supports a high GPA-achieving UH Hilo<br />
senior majoring in Astronomy, with an expressed desire<br />
to pursue a career in <strong>the</strong> field <strong>of</strong> Astronomy. Preference<br />
is given to graduates <strong>of</strong> a high school in <strong>the</strong> state <strong>of</strong><br />
Hawai‘i.<br />
• Frank T. Inouye Scholarship Fund<br />
Scholarships ranging from $500 to $1000 are awarded<br />
annually to students enrolled or planning to enroll in<br />
History, Political Science and Economics. Minimum 3.0<br />
GPA and have some degree <strong>of</strong> financial need.<br />
• Ronald S. Jitchaku Memorial Scholarship<br />
Awards in <strong>the</strong> amount <strong>of</strong> annual tuition costs awarded<br />
to full-time students enrolled in <strong>the</strong> UH Hilo Liberal<br />
Studies/Administration <strong>of</strong> Justice Program. Recipients<br />
must be graduates <strong>of</strong> a high school in <strong>the</strong> state <strong>of</strong><br />
Hawai‘i. The number and amount <strong>of</strong> scholarships will be<br />
based on <strong>the</strong> availability <strong>of</strong> funds. Minimum 2.5 GPA.<br />
• Phyllis Kahaney Humanities Award<br />
$300 awarded annually to a Humanities major,<br />
preference given to students age 27 or above and<br />
enrolled at least half-time. Recipients must demonstrate<br />
financial need and have at least a 2.0 cumulative GPA.
