Masami and Mae M. Aito Excellence Scholarship<br />

Students must be full-time undergraduates enrolled<br />

in <strong>the</strong> College <strong>of</strong> Business and Economics and have a<br />

cumulative GPA <strong>of</strong> 3.5 or above. Recipients must also<br />

be graduates <strong>of</strong> a Big Island high school.<br />

George S. Alves Memorial Scholarship<br />

Students must be full-time or part-time undergraduates<br />

in <strong>the</strong> College <strong>of</strong> Agriculture, Forestry, and Natural<br />

Resource Management, meet a minimum GPA <strong>of</strong> 3.0<br />

and have some degree <strong>of</strong> financial need.<br />

Aoyagi Family Endowed Scholarship<br />

Recipients must be full-time undergraduate students<br />

majoring in business or economics. Students must also<br />

be graduates <strong>of</strong> a Hawai‘i Island high school, have a<br />

minimum cumulative 3.0 GPA and some degree <strong>of</strong><br />

financial need.<br />

Amer Ari Men’s Golf Success Scholarship<br />

Student recipient must be a full-time undergraduate and<br />

a member <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Vulcans Men’s Golf Team and show<br />

financial need.<br />

James and Grace Arakaki Endowed Excellence<br />

Scholarship<br />

Scholarship supports a veteran, honorably discharged<br />

from active U.S. military service or <strong>the</strong> son/daughter <strong>of</strong> a<br />

veteran, honorably discharged from active U.S. military<br />

service. Recipient must be a full-time undergraduate<br />

enrolled in <strong>the</strong> College <strong>of</strong> Business and Economics, with<br />

a GPA <strong>of</strong> 3.0 or higher. Recipient must be a graduate <strong>of</strong><br />

a public high school in <strong>the</strong> state <strong>of</strong> Hawai‘i, preferably<br />

on <strong>the</strong> Big Island.<br />

Frederic Duclos Barstow Scholarship<br />

Scholarships for full-time undergraduate students <strong>of</strong><br />

American Samoan ancestry who are pursuing a degree<br />

that requires a math and/or science major. Students<br />

must be entering <strong>the</strong>ir 2nd, 3rd, or 4th year at UH Hilo.<br />

Recipients must have financial need and at least a 2.0<br />

GPA. The number and amount <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> scholarships will<br />

be based on <strong>the</strong> availability <strong>of</strong> funds.<br />

• Ruth E. Black Scholarship<br />

Scholarships <strong>of</strong> $200 or more awarded to students<br />

who demonstrate <strong>the</strong> potential for academic growth<br />

and achievement. First priority for scholarships shall<br />

be given to <strong>the</strong> sons and daughters <strong>of</strong> engineers,<br />

contractors and construction workers. Second priority<br />

shall be given to students pursuing constructionrelated<br />

fields <strong>of</strong> study: engineering, pre- engineering,<br />

architecture, drafting, carpentry, construction trades, etc.<br />

Third priority shall be given to all o<strong>the</strong>r well-qualified<br />

students. Minimum 3.0 GPA.<br />

• William Bonk Scholarship for Bhutan Students<br />

For students from Bhutan pursuing a degree at UH Hilo<br />

in <strong>the</strong> social or natural sciences, demonstrating some<br />

financial need and a minimum GPA <strong>of</strong> 2.85.<br />

• Dr. John G. Chan Endowed Excellence Scholarship in<br />

Biology<br />

Recipients must be full-time or part-time, undergraduate<br />

students who have declared a major in biology.<br />

Preference shall be given to a senior who has selfidentified<br />

an intent to continue on to graduate school.<br />

Additional requirements include a cumulative grade<br />

point average <strong>of</strong> 3.5 or above and some financial need.<br />

Larry Child Scholarship<br />

$1,500 or more awarded annually. Recipients must be<br />

Hawai‘i residents. Four-year renewable scholarship but<br />

must apply each year.<br />

Paul Mark Clark/Carl Moon Scholarship<br />

Scholarship provided to full-time students majoring in<br />

<strong>the</strong> Performing Arts. Students must have financial need<br />

and minimum 3.20 GPA. The number and amount <strong>of</strong><br />

<strong>the</strong> scholarships will be based on availability <strong>of</strong> funds.<br />

• Criminal Justice Scholarship<br />

Annual awards for Hawai‘i residents interested in<br />

making community service contributions on <strong>the</strong><br />

Island <strong>of</strong> Hawai‘i to needy individuals or charitable<br />

organizations or agencies that serve <strong>the</strong> needy. Amount<br />

<strong>of</strong> awards dependent on income from investments.<br />

• Howard and Yoneko Droste Endowed Scholarship in<br />

Art<br />

Students must be full-time juniors or seniors majoring<br />

in Art, with a minimum 3.5 GPA and demonstrated<br />

financial need.<br />

• Alec and Kay Keith Scholarship<br />

Recipients must have graduated from a Hawai'i high<br />

school (with preference given to Big Island high schools)<br />

or be citizens <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> U.S. affiliated Pacific Island States,<br />

have financial need, and demonstrate academic merit.<br />

Incoming freshman should have a minimum 3.00 high
