The number one focus of <strong>Kirkwood</strong> <strong>Community</strong> <strong>College</strong> is learner success<br />
through credential attainment. <strong>Kirkwood</strong>’s strategic plan is our Learner Success<br />
Agenda, a framework for improving the economic strength and quality of life in<br />
eastern Iowa.<br />
We believe: 1) education leads to greater economic prosperity for the region; 2) <strong>all</strong><br />
citizens will benefit as more become educated; and 3) Iowa’s workforce will benefit<br />
from greater numbers of educated and skilled workers.<br />
To put it simply, more education equals more success for our learners and our<br />
region.<br />

The official corporate name of the <strong>Kirkwood</strong> Foundation is the <strong>Kirkwood</strong> <strong>Community</strong><br />
<strong>College</strong> Foundation, Inc., and this name should be used in <strong>all</strong> legal documents. Gifts<br />
to the Foundation qualify as charitable contributions to an I.R.S. Section 501(c)(3)<br />
organization for federal, estate and gift tax purposes.<br />
The non-profit <strong>Kirkwood</strong> Foundation exists to bridge the gap between the needs and<br />
resources of <strong>Kirkwood</strong> <strong>Community</strong> <strong>College</strong>. The Foundation supports the college in areas<br />

As of June 30, 2011 the market value of the foundation portfolio was $20.2<br />
million, up from $14.3 million at June 30, 2010. For the year ending June 30,<br />
2011, the foundation portfolio returned 23.4% after investment fees. The<br />
annualized return since the program inception on November 30, 2002 is 7.6%.<br />
The <strong>Kirkwood</strong> Foundation has a balanced approach to investing with a longterm<br />
investment horizon. The portfolio maintains a policy asset <strong>all</strong>ocation<br />
target of 65% equity, 5% real assets, and 30% fixed income. The Investment<br />
Committee of the Foundation board works closely with staff and a professional<br />
