<strong>Experience</strong> on Fermilab E605
1/83 – 9/90: Research Assistant, University <strong>of</strong> Washington.

• I worked on the 1984 and 1985 runs <strong>of</strong> Fermilab experiment 605. The purpose <strong>of</strong>
E605 was to study production <strong>of</strong> high-pt hadrons and high-mass hadron and lepton
pairs. I was involved in detector commissioning, wrote online detector monitoring
s<strong>of</strong>tware, worked on <strong>of</strong>fline detector studies and served as code manager for the
collaboration. I worked on all aspects <strong>of</strong> data analysis for 1984 run including pattern
recognition and fitting <strong>of</strong> tracks, trigger efficiencies, determination <strong>of</strong> calorimeter
energy scale and resolution. My analysis concentrated on the data from the ring
imaging Cherenkov detector, which was the first ever to operate. This involved
time-dependent calibrations <strong>of</strong> the the radiator gas index <strong>of</strong> refraction and the
focusing mirror positions. My thesis covered A-dependence, particle fractions, and
cross sections for single hadrons and for hadron pairs.
• I wrote a paper (Phys. Rev. Lett. 68, 452 (1992)) based on my thesis research
covering A-dependence <strong>of</strong> high-pt hadron and high-mass hadron pair production in
pA collisions at √ s <strong>of</strong> 38.8 GeV.
• I wrote a paper (Phys. Rev. D45, 3030 (1992)) based on my thesis research on
the relative abundances <strong>of</strong> high-pt π’s, K’s and protons, and species correlations
between opposite-side high-pt hadrons in pA collisions at √ s <strong>of</strong> 38.8 GeV.
