<strong>DCR</strong> searches can be refined using a series<br />
of roles<br />
• “Roles” in DWPI describe the function of a<br />
compound in the patent, e.g.<br />
– Compound is prepared, purified or part of a mixture<br />
– Compound is claimed or from the examples<br />
• <strong>DCR</strong> compounds can have two types of roles<br />
assigned<br />
– 2-3-letter codes from the IT-field (<strong>DCR</strong> Roles)<br />
– Single-letter codes from the chemical code field CMC<br />
(DCN Roles)<br />
• Both types of roles can be linked to <strong>DCR</strong><br />
numbers via the (T)-proximity operator<br />
