New 15-years loan option boosts solar industry by further reducing reliance on
government involvement

announces the launch of SolarLoan Plus, an expansion of its successful loan programme for
solar PV systems.
A doubling of the uptake of the existing SolarLoan programme over the last six months has
led to Engensa expanding its SolarLoan scheme with features including a new 15-year loan
option and a broader choice of solar panels. In addition, SolarLoan Plus features a threemonth
payment holiday until February 2013. This confirms SolarLoan Plus as the easiest and
most affordable way for homeowners to generate their own electricity and cash from home
solar panels, without making an upfront investment.
According to Engensa, whilst the government remains verbally committed to enabling
alternative, cost-efficient energy models for householders, its funding cuts and current
battles with the EU mean that it is discouraging consumers from enjoying the practical
benefits of solar energy. Private finance is now filling the gap and demonstrating that solar
will be a widespread success even with government policy changes.
