4.19. You must verify the following:<br />

(a) the signature on the card matches the signature on the transaction receipt and,<br />

where clause 4.18(a) applies, on the identifi cation presented; and<br />

(b) where clause 4.18(b) applies, the Cardholder resembles the person depicted in any<br />

photograph intended to be used as identifi cation on the card.<br />

4.20. You must do the following before completing the transaction:<br />

(a) compare the fi rst four digits of the embossed card account number to the fi rst four<br />

digits printed below the card account number (if the numbers do not match, do not<br />

proceed with the transaction); and<br />

(b) record the printed fi rst four digits on the front of the transaction receipt.<br />

4.21. You must clearly disclose to the cardholder any commission you charge for accepting<br />

a quasi-cash transaction and include in the total transaction amount, before<br />

completing the transaction.<br />

5. Authorisation and authentication<br />

Authorisation<br />

5.1. You must:<br />

(a) without limiting the remainder of this clause, comply with any authorisation<br />

procedures of which we advise you, including those relating to electronic commerce<br />

transactions and MOTO transactions; and<br />

(b) obtain authorisation from us prior to the relevant transaction:<br />

(i) where the value of the transaction is over your applicable fl oor limit; or<br />

(ii) if the transaction is an instalment payment for goods or services; or<br />

(iii) as instructed by us through the equipment or otherwise; and<br />

(c) for a manual transaction, record on a single voucher all items purchased in a single<br />

transaction or obtain a separate authorisation on the transaction date for each<br />

separate voucher the value of which is above the fl oor limit; and<br />

(d) for a point of sale transaction, obtain prior authorisation for any transaction on the<br />

transaction date where:<br />

(i) you would process the transaction using manual equipment but your manual<br />

equipment is not working; or<br />

(ii) you suspect that a signature is unauthorised or there is an unauthorised use or<br />

forgery of the nominated card; or<br />

(iii) the nominated card signature panel (if any) is blank, and<br />

seek to retain the nominated card by reasonable, peaceful means until that<br />

authorisation is given.
