V. Blast Furnace Number Six:<br />

A. Stockhouse:<br />

1. Stockhouse Building: The steel framed brick exterior<br />

stockhouse, located underneath the trestle, is broken up into two<br />

segments (i. e. north and south stockhouse) about the centerline<br />

of the blast furnace. The north stockhouse is 76'-0" wide x<br />

152*-4 1/2" long x 15'-10" high. The south stockhouse is 76'-0"<br />

wide x 168'-7 1/2" long x lS'-lO" high. The eastern and western<br />

walls of stockhouse number 6 coincide with the eastern and<br />

western walls of the stockhouse for blast furnaces 1 through 4.<br />

Construction Date: 19 61.<br />

2. Skip Pit: The SG'-O" wide x 58'-4" long x 40 , -2" deep<br />

concrete skip pit is located at the eastern wall of the<br />

stockhouse about the centerline of blast furnace number 6. Laid<br />

out on a east-west axis, the pit is divided up into three<br />

segments. A 30'-0" space laid out about the centerline of the<br />

furnace contains the remains of the main bridge and double skip<br />

track which led to the top of the furnace. Flanking the remains<br />

of the main bridge and double skip track are two 9'-7 1/2" wide<br />

spaces. The space north of the main skip bridge and double track<br />

fragment contain the remains of the coke breeze bridge and skip<br />

track. The space south of the main skip bridge and double track<br />

remains contain the remains of the clean up skip bridge and<br />

track.<br />

3. Main Coke Breeze Conveyor: See description I - A - 10.<br />

4. North Stockhouse Coke Delivery System: The north<br />

stockhouse coke delivery system transferred coke from coke bins<br />

suspended from a trestle to a waiting 400 cu. ft. capacity skip<br />

car in the skip pit.<br />

Installation Date: 1962.<br />

a. Coke Bins: Laid out on a north-south axis, five<br />

46,000 cubic foot capacity coke bins, spaced approximately 14'-0"
