up of a combination of organizations but if there are still fewer than eight (8)
people for a tour, the tour must be cancelled.
4.1.5.3. Applications will be available on THINK, Wednesday September 26,
2012 through the 'Request Hershey Trip' link.
4.1.5.4. Only groups that have properly filled out a Hershey Trip Application will
be eligible to attend. Please provide your first, second and third choices for
dates your organization would like to go.
4.1.5.5. Tours do not run every day. Hershey Trip specific dates are posted on the
THON website, under the Student Documents section. Reservations will be
granted on a first-come, first-served basis. If your group is chosen to
participate you will be contacted by the Hershey Trip Coordinator and your trip
status will be confirmed on THINK.
4.1.5.6. Please make your best effort to adhere to your reservation and scheduled
time. If something unexpected comes up and you absolutely cannot
make it, you must contact the Hershey Trip Coordinator AT LEAST 48
hours in advance of the trip.
4.1.5.7. Tardiness is not acceptable. The tours will begin whether or not you are
there. Much effort goes into the planning of these trips. If you choose to
disregard your confirmed reservation, you are choosing to disrespect the
children and the families of The Four Diamonds Fund, Penn State Children’s
Hospital and THON Overall Committee.
4.1.5.7.1. No electronic devices including cellular phone use are permitted in
the hospital. Phones must be turned off before entering the hospital.
4.1.5.8. If you cancel fewer than 48 hours in advance of the trip or just fail to
show for your scheduled date and time, your organization will forfeit its visit
to Penn State Children’s Hospital, as well as incur a penalty of $100.00
which will be deducted from the organization’s THON 2013 total and
donated anonymously to THON. THON and the Four Diamonds Fund
reserve the right to cancel any Hershey Trip. In the case of this event,
organizations will not be fined.
4.1.5.9. In the event a Hershey Trip is cancelled, a rescheduled date will not be
available due to the fact that participating in the tours does take the staff away
from their work with the Four Diamonds patients and their research.
4.1.6. IF YOU HAVE A COLD/VIRUS/FLU/ETC. OR ARE FEELING SICK IN THE
FEW DAYS (OR DAY OF) LEADING UP TO YOUR TRIP, PLEASE DO NOT GO
TO HERSHEY – FIND A SUBSTITUTE OR CANCEL! You are taken through
various units where your germs could detrimentally affect the immune system of a
