Rulebook <strong>2013</strong> Penn State IFC/Panhellenic Dance Marathon 2.2.3.2.4. All Materials for Canvassing can be picked up during the Materials Distribution times listed above, or from 210 HUB during normal office hours (9am – 5pm, Monday - Friday). 2.2.3.2.5. All organizations are allowed up to 250 free solicitation cards. 2.2.3.3. SOLICITATION CARDS CANNOT BE PLACED IN MAILBOXES FOR ANY REASON. THIS IS IN VIOLATION OF FEDERAL LAW AND WILL RESULT IN ORGANIZATIONAL PENALTIES. 2.2.3.4. Cash and check donations may also be collected while canvassing; however, collecting credit card information while canvassing is ILLEGAL AND STRICTLY PROHIBITED and will be punishable by the Overall Committee. 2.2.3.5. Individuals may not solicit donations from any Centre County area business without prior approval of the Overall Committee. 2.2.3.6. Unlike canister solicitation, door-to-door canvassing with THON solicitation cards IS PERMITTED. 2.2.3.7. Please note that many organizations will canvass Centre County ON September 28, and that canvassing in Centre County after that date is discouraged. 2.2.3.8. Organizations must keep safety as a top priority during canvassing. The Overall Committee reserves the right to withdraw the use of canvassing as a means of fundraising for THON at any time. 2.2.4. CORPORATE SPONSORS 2.2.4.1. Small Business and Corporate Sponsors: THON requires that a New Company Contact Request form be filled out on THINK prior to contacting any small business or corporation. Contact Overall Donor and Alumni Relations Chairperson, Michael Ringenbach (donor.alumni.relations@thon.org) with any questions. 2.2.4.1.1. This request can be found on THINK (http://www.think.psu.edu) under the request donations box tab. 2.2.4.1.2. Solicitation of Small Business and Corporate Donors may only be made inside the Fundraising Window, unless approved by the Overall Rules and Regulations Chairperson, Mike Wellner and the Overall Donor and Alumni Relations Chairperson, Michael Ringenbach. 2.2.4.1.2.1. If an organization has registered a Corporate Donor that donated to THON and credited that organization during the THON 22
Rulebook <strong>2013</strong> Penn State IFC/Panhellenic Dance Marathon 2011 or THON 2012 year, they are permitted to contact that donor prior to the fundraising window. 2.2.4.1.2.1.1. If a Corporate Donor was contacted but did not donate and credit the organization, they can be contacted by any organization within the fundraising window. 2.2.4.1.2.2. If a donation box will be placed at a place of business, this request form can be made when filing a New Company Contact. 2.2.4.1.2.2.1. A New Donation Box request form must be filled out for each donation box, even if they are located in the same shopping center/mall. 2.2.4.1.2.3. Money raised from donation boxes must be turned in to the THON Office at 210 HUB no more than 10 days after the fundraising event. 2.2.4.1.3. After gaining approval, the organization will make arrangements with the assigned Donor and Alumni Relations liaison to determine who will manage all contacts for the duration leading up to Dance Marathon. Should your organization choose to retain the duty of maintaining the contact, you must keep your Donor and Alumni Relations liaison informed of all relevant developments. All donations received from donors must be issued directly to Penn State Dance Marathon, 210 HUB, University Park, PA 16802 with the organization name and number in the memo so that the organization can receive proper credit. 2.2.4.1.4. Local (Centre County) Company Sponsors 2.2.4.1.4.1. No group may solicit Centre County or State College businesses. The ONLY exception to this is if a member or alumni of the organization currently works at the business. In that case, the organization must notify the Overall Donor and Alumni Relations Chairperson, Michael Ringenbach, PRIOR to the first contact. Additionally, the New Company Contact form must be completed on THINK. Once this form has been approved, contact can be initiated. This contact CANNOT be initiated PRIOR to September 28 th , 2012. 2.2.4.1.5. Corporate and Charitable Foundations 2.2.4.1.5.1. No group may solicit corporate or charitable foundations for a donation. Corporate contacts will only be approved if an organization has a personal contact with an affiliate of the company or foundation. The Donor and Alumni Relations Committee is 23
