2.2.2.7.6. Organizations’ canning totals will be posted on THINK the Sunday<br />

following each Canning Drop-Off and will be viewable by each THON<br />

Chair. If you have any questions regarding these postings, contact<br />

Overall Finance Chairperson, Jen Stipa (finance@thon.org).<br />

2.2.2.8. SANCTIONS FOR ILLEGAL SOLICITATION: ORGANIZATIONS WILL<br />

BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE FOR SOLICITING FUNDS ILLEGALLY. THIS<br />

INCLUDES BUT IS NOT LIMITED TO: CANNING AND CANVASSING ON<br />

UNIVERSITY PROPERTY (INCLUDING BEAVER STADIUM) AND CANNING<br />

ILLEGALLY (WITHOUT A PERMIT OR IN VIOLATION OF THE APPLICABLE<br />

VEHICLE CODES).<br />

2.2.2.8.1. Either the Overall Committee or the local authorities must confirm<br />

all allegations.<br />

2.2.2.8.2. Organizations soliciting illegally will be held accountable based on<br />

a point system.<br />

2.2.2.8.3. Penalties will be based on the number of points an organization<br />

has accumulated. EXAMPLE: Organizations found canning unsafely or<br />

illegally will gain seven (7) points. Penalties associated with seven (7)<br />

points include: meeting with appropriate member(s) of the Overall<br />

Committee, loss of funds from given occasion, 10% deduction of THON<br />

<strong>2013</strong> total, loss of pass(es), loss of dancer couple(s). A complete list of<br />

points and all associated penalties is available in Appendices D and E.<br />

2.2.2.8.4. All THON Committees that are found to be canning illegally<br />

will lose one (1) incentive pass for each occurrence.<br />

2.2.3. CANVASSING<br />

2.2.3.1. This type of fundraising may be accomplished by means of THON<br />

solicitation cards that communicate THON’s message and encourage<br />

potential donors to donate online.<br />

2.2.3.2. Solicitation Cards are the only approved materials for canvassing<br />

2.2.3.2.1. Organizations are encouraged to bring a general envelope or<br />

extra THONvelope with which to collect any donations.<br />

2.2.3.2.2. Canning materials such as cans and signs are strictly<br />

forbidden while canvassing.<br />

2.2.3.2.3. Canvassing can only be done during daylight hours<br />
