<strong>2013</strong> Penn State IFC/Panhellenic Dance Marathon<br />

ORGANIZATION’S FULL NAME on every sign. If it is an Independent<br />

Dancer Couple, BOTH NAMES must appear on the signs. Materials will<br />

ONLY be provided during the following times:<br />

2.2.2.5.3.1. September 26-28 10am-5pm; 327 HUB<br />

2.2.2.5.3.2. October 17-19 10am-5pm; 327 HUB<br />

2.2.2.5.3.3. November 7-9 10am-5pm; 327 HUB<br />

2.2.2.5.4. Persons participating in canister solicitation MUST have<br />

names VISIBLE while canning. Failure to do so will result in the<br />

gain of two (2) points. Penalties associated with two (2) points include<br />

meeting with the appropriate member(s) of the Overall Committee, 5%<br />

deduction of funds raised during given occasion. A complete list of points<br />

and all associated penalties is available in Appendices D and E.<br />

2.2.2.5.5. All persons who choose to solicit for THON are required to carry<br />

their Penn State IDs. Persons choosing to solicit are also encouraged<br />

to display their IDs, along with any other item displaying Penn State<br />

and/or THON. Reflective clothing is strongly encouraged.<br />

2.2.2.6. Proper Canning Procedure<br />

2.2.2.6.1. While canning, Penn State students are an extension of the Penn<br />

State IFC/Panhellenic Dance Marathon. As such, all participants are<br />

expected to present themselves in a professional manner and abide by<br />

all state and local laws within the area in which they are soliciting.<br />

2.2.2.6.2. ALL VEHICLE CODES OF THE STATE IN WHICH YOU ARE<br />

SOLICITING MUST BE FOLLOWED. Please see Appendix B for a<br />

detailed list of states and their respective vehicle codes. Any<br />

organization found in violation of this rule will gain seven (7) points.<br />

Penalties associated with seven (7) points include: meeting with<br />

appropriate member(s) of the Overall Committee, loss of funds from<br />

given occasion, 10% deduction of THON <strong>2013</strong> total, loss of pass(es),<br />

loss of dancer couple(s), loss of participation in THON. A complete list of<br />

points and all associated penalties is available in Appendices D and E.<br />

2.2.2.6.3. SUGGESTED PROCEDURE WHEN OTHER STUDENTS ARE<br />

SEEN CANNING IN VIOLATION OF VEHICLE CODES OR WHEN<br />

STUDENTS ARE NOT PRESENTING THEMSELVES IN A<br />

PROFESSIONAL AND COURTEOUS MANNER:<br />

2.2.2.6.3.1. Approach those who are canning improperly, remind them<br />

of THON’s policy, and politely ask them to correct their behavior.<br />
