<strong>2013</strong> Penn State IFC/Panhellenic Dance Marathon<br />

include information about responsibilities and expectations, policies, procedures,<br />

enforcement, appropriate crisis/emergency responses, and safety and security<br />

precautions when interacting with the Four Diamonds minors. A sponsoring<br />

organization, committee, volunteer, or student interacting with a minor in the THON<br />

setting without parental or legal guardian attendance, must:<br />

1.8.2.1. Establish a procedure for the notification of the minor's parent/legal<br />

guardian in case of an emergency, including medical or behavioral problem,<br />

natural disasters, or other significant program disruptions; this most<br />

importantly includes the exchange of emergency contact information.<br />

1.8.3. The organization must especially be made aware of the guidelines listed in Penn<br />

State University Policy AD-39. This Document can be found here.<br />

1.8.4. THON Volunteers must make all reasonable efforts to ensure the safety of<br />

minors participating in programs and activities related to THON and the Four<br />

Diamonds Fund.<br />

1.8.4.1. These guidelines are set forth to ensure the safety and protection of all<br />

minors involved with Penn State Dance Marathon and the Four Diamonds<br />

Fund. Anyone found in violation of these rules will be referred to the Office of<br />

Student Conduct and/or Student Organization Conduct Committee and face<br />

consequences from the Overall Committee. For more information or if you<br />

have any questions regarding this policy, please contact the Overall Family<br />

Relations Chairperson, Sarah Miele (family.relations@thon.org).<br />

2.0 FUNDRAISING<br />

2.1. FORCED FUNDRAISING<br />

2.1.1. All fundraising on behalf of THON by any organization is strictly voluntary.<br />

Any individual may wish to participate or not to participate in fundraising<br />

activities. Any organizations found to be requiring members to fundraise on<br />

behalf of THON will gain a minimum of eight (8) points. Penalties associated<br />

with eight (8) points include: meeting with the appropriate member(s) of the<br />

Overall Committee, loss of funds from given occasion, 10% deduction of<br />

THON <strong>2013</strong> total, potential loss of pass(es), potential loss of dancer<br />

couple(s), potential loss of participation in THON.<br />

2.1.1.1. To report forced fundraising anonymously, visit the Comments<br />

section of www.thon.org to submit information.<br />

2.1.2. SOLICITATION BEGINS AT 7AM ON FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 28, 2012 AND<br />

ENDS AT 11:59PM ON SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 16, <strong>2013</strong>.<br />

2.1.2.1. Money will still be accepted until 11:59am Sunday, February 17, <strong>2013</strong><br />

that will be included in THON <strong>2013</strong> total but, cannot be credited towards<br />

organizations.<br />
