<strong>2013</strong> Penn State IFC/Panhellenic Dance Marathon<br />

1.6.2.3. Bags will only be credited towards your organization or committee if you<br />

have a sticker with your organization number on the bag.<br />

1.6.2.4. A bag may only contain plastics or aluminum cans, not a mix of both.<br />

1.6.2.4.1. Aluminum must not be crushed.<br />

1.6.2.4.2. Plastics must be #1-7 type plastics.<br />

1.6.2.5. Recycling should NEVER be taken from residence halls or campus<br />

buildings. If this is discovered, your organization will be disqualified and will<br />

not receive any incentive for THON weekend.<br />

1.6.3. Incentives<br />

1.6.3.1. Incentives for the most bags submitted for Committees, Organizations,<br />

and Commonwealth Campuses will be awarded. There will be one winner per<br />

category.<br />

1.6.3.2. Each winner will receive either:<br />

1.6.3.2.1. Slides of Strength Floor Pass<br />

1.6.3.2.2. A Line Dance on stage during THON Weekend<br />

1.7. Ethical Considerations<br />

1.7.1. All organizations that choose to participate in any fundraising activities are<br />

expected to make the appropriate arrangements to cover expenses. Organizations<br />

are encouraged to keep expenses to a minimum. The Overall Committee does<br />

not condone using money from any solicitation method to pay for gas, food,<br />

or any other related costs. Canister solicitation funds used to pay for any trip<br />

or organization expense is strictly prohibited. The goal of each group should<br />

be to maximize its contribution to The Four Diamonds Fund; the more money<br />

raised, the more money will be available to assist the children and their families<br />

who benefit from The Four Diamonds Fund. The members of the organization<br />

should exercise caution to prevent abuses. Any activity or event that is meant to<br />

support THON must remain appropriate for a THON family to witness at all times.<br />

1.7.2. Any organization found to be using money from solicitation to cover<br />

expenses will gain four (4) points. A complete list of points and all associated<br />

penalties is available in Appendices D and E.<br />

1.8. Interaction with Minors<br />

1.8.1. Penn State Dance Marathon will act in accordance to the policies set in place for<br />

Minors involved in University-Sponsored Programs (Reference University Policy<br />

AD39 for more information).<br />

1.8.2. All acting Family Relations THON Chairs and/or Primary THON Chairs who have<br />

direct contact with minors are required to attend a mandatory training session,<br />

which will be included during AAF Workshop #2. This Training Workshop will<br />
