The 2 nd Annual
Kinesiology Research Day
2008
Celebrating Excellence in Kinesiology
Research
Faculty of Human Kinetics
GREETINGS
It is my pleasure to welcome you to the second annual Faculty of Human
Kinetics Research Day. Students, faculty and staff, in the Department of Kinesiology,
have collaborated to bring a variety of projects for public viewing. You will note that
the room will have an air of pride and accomplishment as this completed research has
stimulated so many different individuals.
The keynote speaker, Dr. Bert Carron, is a very timely and appropriate speaker
for such an event. His standing in the research community is well established and there
are virtually hundreds of academics who have been advised or influenced by Dr.
Carron, during his illustrious career.
During Research Day, I hope you get the opportunity to personally thank Dr.
Dave Andrews and his committee for their organizational efforts leading up to this
event. With a record number of presentations and “the buzz” created by the event, it is
clear that Dr. Andrews and his crew have taken care of every detail.
Please enjoy the day! Research rules!
R.L. Boucher, PhD
Dean, Faculty of Human Kinetics
Research is the life blood of education as it provides the knowledge and
information shared by professors and teachers with their students. Thursday, April 3 rd ,
2008 promises to be a day of sharing and learning for Kinesiology. It is exciting to see
the interest in research among both graduate and undergraduate students and this is a
testament to the outstanding mentoring provided by Kinesiology faculty members in all
facets of the program.
Once again, we have an outstanding guest speaker who has been one of the
leaders in his field on an international basis. Dr. A. V. “Bert” Carron, from the
University of Western Ontario, has had a long and distinguished association with the
Faculty of Human Kinetics at the University of Windsor and I am very pleased to
welcome him to Research Day – 2008. I know that this will be an interesting and
stimulating presentation.
Once again this year, Dr. Dave Andrews, our research chair, has led his team of
organizers and has arranged a terrific slate of presenters covering a wide variety of
topics. On behalf of the department, I thank all of the organizers for their hard work.
We brag about our broad based program and research day certainly confirms that
boast. I urge everyone to wear their Research Day shirts proudly, not only on April 3 rd ,
but throughout the coming year. What the Kinesiology Family has accomplished in
research, under Dr. Andrews leadership, is remarkable. Best wishes to all participants
for a successful and enjoyable day.
Sincerely,
1
