possible to predict mean monthly tank temperatures. The RM was fitted to <strong>the</strong><br />

Genosar 1997/98 winter data, utilizing regression analysis. The resulting values for <strong>the</strong><br />

four coefficients are: (β−η)/αc=–2.43, (1–γ)/αc=6.55, αwτc=0.6 and β=0.3. The<br />

calibrated RM was <strong>the</strong>n tested with <strong>the</strong> 1998/99 data from Genosar and Eilat (Table<br />

1).<br />

Table 1 shows that <strong>the</strong> RM produced good predictions (less than 1 o C deviation<br />

from measured values) of tank temperature.<br />

In conclusion it seems that <strong>the</strong> EM can be used to estimate energy fluxes and <strong>the</strong><br />

RM can be used to predict water temperatures in covered aquaculture tanks.<br />
