• Danarenae Donato, a junior at PVHS, was chosen to receive the Brandeis Book Award, which is given<br />
to high school juniors in the top 10% of their class who demonstrate a commitment to civic engagement,<br />
community service, political activism, social justice, and/or volunteer work.<br />
• Maura Carey, a junior at PVHS, and Danielle Schimmenti, a junior at PHHS, were each awarded the<br />
Wellesley College Book Award, which is given to a female junior who has an outstanding academic<br />
record & character, & also made significant extracurricular contributions to her high school and/or<br />
community. She is chosen for her intelligence, determination, motivation, achievement, & leadership<br />
qualities.<br />
• Samantha Cheng, a junior at PHHS, and John Ferrara, a junior at PVHS, have been chosen to receive<br />
the Rensselaer Medal, which is awarded to promising secondary school juniors who have distinguished<br />
themselves in mathematics & science.<br />
• Ariel Katz, a senior at PHHS, was chosen as a Junior Commissioner by the Bergen County Commission<br />
on the Status of Women because of her exceptional academic & leadership qualities.<br />
• Sarah Gordon, a junior at PHHS, has been selected to participate in the American Legion Auxiliary<br />
Girls State. Robert Geerlof and Michael Solimano, juniors at PHHS, were selected to participate in<br />
the American Legion Boys State program. This is a unique summertime educational program for high<br />
school juniors that focuses on participation & personal experience in a model state, complete with<br />
government bodies & elected public officials.<br />
• Amanda Eisenberg, Amanda Steiger, & Steven Thorwarth, juniors at PHHS, have been chosen to attend<br />
a week-long leadership conference in June, sponsored by the Park Ridge Rotary Chapter.<br />
• Shawn Meindl, a senior at PVHS, and Michael Riabov, a sophomore at PHHS, have achieved the rank<br />
of Eagle Scout.<br />
