Paulaitis Elected Fellow of<br />
AIMBE<br />
Professor Michael Paulaitis has been elected a Fellow of the<br />
American Institute of Medical <strong>and</strong> Biological <strong>Engineering</strong>.<br />
AIMBE was founded in 1991 to establish a clear <strong>and</strong><br />
comprehensive identity for the field of medical <strong>and</strong> biological<br />
engineering, which is the bridge between the principles of<br />
engineering science <strong>and</strong> practice, <strong>and</strong> the problems <strong>and</strong><br />
issues of biological <strong>and</strong> medical science <strong>and</strong> practice. Fellows<br />
in AIMBE are leaders in the field who have distinguished<br />
themselves through their contributions in research, industrial<br />
practice <strong>and</strong> education.<br />
Three Graduate Students<br />
Win Awards<br />
Chaofang Yue, a member of Dr. Michael Paulaitis’ research<br />
group, received a <strong>2008</strong> Travel Award to attend the 100th<br />
<strong>Annual</strong> meeting of the AIChE to present a research paper.<br />
Yun Wu, a member of Dr. Barbara Wyslouzil’s research group,<br />
received a <strong>2008</strong> Travel Award to attend the 27th <strong>Annual</strong><br />
meeting of the American Association for Aerosol Research to<br />
present a paper describing her research.<br />
Vikas Khanna, a member of Dr. Bhavik Bakshi’s research<br />
group, won a third place poster award for “Environmental Life<br />
Cycle Evaluation of Carbon Nanofiber Reinforced Polymer<br />
Nanocomposites” at the Gordon Research Conference on<br />
Industrial Ecology <strong>2008</strong>. He received a Chair’s Travel Grant to<br />
attend that conference <strong>and</strong> also won a Travel Scholarship to<br />
attend the Society of Risk Analysis <strong>Annual</strong> <strong>2008</strong> meeting.
