Having followed the long drive up the hill<br />
one finally reaches the princely family<br />
home surounded by lush vegetation.<br />
Stepping inside one finds typical Sicilian<br />
ninteenth centruy furnishings and objets<br />
d’art combined with many modern<br />
up-to-date fittings in the bathrooms<br />
and bedrooms. The spacious sitting/<br />
dining room with its ornate fireplace<br />
and comfortable traditional furnishings<br />
leads onto the fabulous large oval terrace.<br />
Pine trees surround the terrace on which<br />
there is a working stone font – the perfect<br />
setting from an evening aperitivo watching<br />
the flaming Etna volcano as well as dinner<br />
on those warm balmy Sicilian evenings.<br />

Nestled amonst the bougavillea, citrus and olive plantations with<br />
outstanding views to Mount Etna, this classic Sicilian home is an ideal base<br />
from which to explore the delights of Eastern Sicily.<br />

Behind the villa is the large pool with<br />
palm, avocado and olive trees providing<br />
shade over the terrace from which one<br />
can enjoy stunning views to Etna and<br />
the sea. Due to its spectacular position<br />
and historical legacy, Taormina has long<br />
been Sicily’s most popular destination<br />
and the view of a smoking and snowcapped<br />
Mount Etna from the Greek/<br />
Roman theatre is certainly its best known<br />
image. There is also a good selection of<br />
sandy beaches down the hill on the nearby<br />
coast including those at Fiumefreddo and<br />
Marina di Cottone which have received<br />
several consecutive “Bandiere Blu”,<br />
attesting to the cleanliness of the water<br />
and their general ecological excellence.<br />
<strong>Villa</strong> <strong>Pietraperciata</strong> is well placed for<br />
visiting the north eastern coast of Sicily,<br />
doing spectacular hikes on Mount Etna<br />
and visiting the hill towns of Etna, the<br />
Nebrodi and Peloritani mountain ranges.<br />
Further afield one can easily reach<br />
Messina, Catania, Siracusa and Noto<br />
and even Reggio Calabria on the Italian<br />
mainland.<br />
