packages <strong>in</strong> the prestigious Sheikh<br />

Zayed Bridge project. Designed by the<br />

Mar<strong>in</strong>a:<br />

from VSoL ®<br />

to PT<br />

> The ma<strong>in</strong> c<strong>on</strong>tractor, Carilli<strong>on</strong>,<br />

has <strong>in</strong>stalled the f<strong>in</strong>al VSoL ® panel<br />

<strong>on</strong> the prestigious, 3-km-l<strong>on</strong>g Dubai<br />

Mar<strong>in</strong>a project. Over 20,000m 2 of the<br />

VSoL ® polymeric soil wall system<br />

have been used to support a new<br />

service road. VSL Middle East has<br />

now been nom<strong>in</strong>ated for the design<br />

and supply of post-tensi<strong>on</strong><strong>in</strong>g to the<br />

floor slabs <strong>on</strong> the new Mar<strong>in</strong>a<br />

Mansi<strong>on</strong>s high-rise tower. Atk<strong>in</strong>s, the<br />

lead c<strong>on</strong>sultant <strong>on</strong> the project, gave<br />

VSL the PT c<strong>on</strong>tract for this 30-storey<br />

build<strong>in</strong>g ahead of the ma<strong>in</strong> c<strong>on</strong>tract<br />

award so that the post-tensi<strong>on</strong><strong>in</strong>g<br />

design package will be ready for<br />

submissi<strong>on</strong> to the successful ma<strong>in</strong><br />

c<strong>on</strong>tractor <strong>on</strong> day <strong>on</strong>e of the<br />

c<strong>on</strong>structi<strong>on</strong> programme. ■<br />

Cold a challenge<br />

<strong>in</strong> Neva project<br />

girder decks, <strong>in</strong>clud<strong>in</strong>g the <strong>in</strong>cl<strong>in</strong>ed<br />

c<strong>on</strong>crete pier supports and pier pile<br />

cap foundati<strong>on</strong>s. The sec<strong>on</strong>d package<br />

is for the supply and <strong>in</strong>stallati<strong>on</strong> of the<br />

<strong>in</strong>cl<strong>in</strong>ed cable-stayed hangers. VSL´s<br />

SSI 2000 system will be utilised for<br />

the hangers. The VSL post-tensi<strong>on</strong><strong>in</strong>g<br />

tend<strong>on</strong>s will be encapsulated us<strong>in</strong>g<br />

<str<strong>on</strong>g>VSL's</str<strong>on</strong>g> proprietary PT Plus<br />

polypropylene duct system <strong>in</strong> order to<br />

enhance corrosi<strong>on</strong> protecti<strong>on</strong>. The<br />

hanger anchorage comp<strong>on</strong>ents range<br />

<strong>in</strong> size from 6-61 up to 6-127 strands<br />

and are fully encapsulated, with each<br />

strand separately protected <strong>in</strong>side the<br />
