Powador-proLOG.
The professional data logger for every application.
The Powador-proLOG is a data logger
that provides extensive options for local
and remote monitoring on the PC.
It records the currents, voltages, temperatures,
power outputs and yields of
every individual inverter. External sensors
can also be connected to it. The stored
system data is transmitted every day to
an e-mail address of your choice as a
text file. The data logger also automatically
reports by e-mail, fax or SMS if the
system exits the operating states specified
by the user. The alarm parameters
can be customised to fit the technical
properties of the system perfectly.
The current measured values can be
viewed at any time via the PC. The free
Powador-monitor software enables
users to view data graphically. You can
access the data from anywhere in the
world using the password protected
Powador-web Internet portal.
Powador-link RS485.
The Powador-link RS485 is a radio module
consisting of a transmitter and receiver,
which uses the wireless extension
of the RS485 bus at the inverter. It can
be used to configure system monitoring
for several inverters that are located
apart. The data of the first part bus is
sent from the Powador-RS485 transmitter
to the Powador-RS485 receiver
by radio. The data of two part busses
are provided with one data logger.
Insolation sensors Si-12TC and Si-12TC-T.
The insolation sensor is used for professional
monitoring of a photovoltaic system.
The measured irradiance can be
used to determine the expected yield of
a photovoltaic system, which can then
be compared with the actual yield.
Functional description
The short-circuit current of a silicone solar
cell is proportional to the solar irradiance.
The Si-12TC sensors use a monocrystalline
solar cell (from the Schott
Solar company), which is operated by
a low-impedance resistor in the short
circuit. All sensors are equipped with
active temperature compensation. This
increases the measuring accuracy. A special
temperature sensor is laminated to
the rear of the solar cell. Each individual
sensor is calibrated using a pyranometer,
which is calibrated by the PTB in Braunschweig
on a regular basis.
Mechanical design
The solar cell is embedded in ethylene
vinyl acetate (EVA) between the glass
and a layer of Tedlar. The laminated cell
is integrated into a housing made of anodised
aluminium. The Si sensor design
(orange) Irradiance
(brown) Temperature
(black) GND
(red) 24 V
therefore corresponds to that of a PV
module. A three-meter-long UV-resistant
cable is used to make the electrical connection.
Optional temperature measurement
In addition to measuring the radiation,
the Si-12TC-T sensors also allow you to
measure the solar cell temperature. This
measurement is made by a temperature
sensor that is directly laminated to the
cell.
KACO-Power-Control.
Professional feed-in management for
large PV systems.
If you install a system with a rated power
of more than 100 kW, you must ensure
that the grid operators can remotely control
the feed-in power. This is a requirement
of the new German Renewable
Energies Act (“EEG”) and the Medium
Voltage Directive (“Mittelspannungsrichtlinie”)
as of 2010. With Powador inverters,
you are on the right side of the law.
KACO Power Control is the new software
that keeps law and order. And all KACO
feed-in inverters will be equipped with it
in future. In addition to the upgrade, the
Powador-proLOG XL data logger is now
also equipped with an additional circuit
board.
The grid operator inputs the command
to reduce output to a radio ripple control
receiver. It is equipped with four relay outputs
that handle the system’s rated power
in terms of 0%, 30%, 60% and 100%.
The data logger translates the signals from
the switching output of the radio ripple
control receiver and sends a control command
to the inverter via RS485. For example,
when a signal of 60% is received,
the inverters limit the maximum output to
60%. When a signal of 0% is received,
equipped with a special DSL function:
the DSL postbox. This requires a DSL
connection and access to Powador-web.
The DSL connection makes it possible
for Powador-web to assign tasks to the
Powador-proLOG in a private local area
network (LAN). You can use this function
to retrieve missing data, for example.
This provides for bidirectional communication
between Powador-web and the
Powador-proLOG, which would normally
be prevented when using DSL because of
safety measures (e.g. a firewall). The DSL
Powador-web.
Powador-web is an Internet portal that
is used in conjunction with the PowadorproLOG
to provide a comprehensive evaluation
and visualisation of photovoltaic
systems. Access is possible from anywhere
in the world via the Internet. Access is
password protected. The data displayed
depends on the configuration of the data
logger. You can evaluate energy production
during various time periods and for
different partial systems, to include a target/actual
comparison of the values on
the individual inverters, such as current,
voltage, power at the input and output,
as well as module temperature and solar
irradiance. Furthermore, alarm conditions
and the type of messages can be configured
and organised. Data tables can
be generated over a longer time period
using the report function. Powador-web
diagrams can be included on your own
website for a one-off charge.
KACO-viso.
Free visualisation.
KACO-viso is software that you use to
record and display measured data from
Powador inverters. You can download
this visualisation tool free of charge from
our website at www.kaco-newenergy.de.
In conjunction with the inverter, KACOviso
assumes the role of data logger
and graphically evaluates the measured
values that are shown on the inverter
display. The data is transferred via the
Powador inverter’s standard RS232 interface
to the PC and then stored by KACOviso.
Data from as many as eight inverters
can be recorded simultaneously. The PC
must have one serial interface for each
inverter. You can also use special USBto-serial
adapters (KACO item number:
60900017).
You can use various types of diagrams
to display all important system parameters
in daily, monthly, annual and complete
overviews. The user can choose
any diagram type and decide which
values (or combination of values) are
to be displayed. For example, both the
feed-in power and the inverter status
can be displayed together in the daily
overview diagram. As an alternative, the
user may decide to display the maximum
inverter temperature together with the
operating hours in the monthly overview.
You can choose from an online display or
use data that was previously recorded.
The Powador-go Set consists of a
Powador-go current sensor, a power
supply unit, a signalling device, and
an appropriate number of connection
cables (CAT5). This set allows a
function alarm to be implemented
independently of the inverter: The
Powador-go outputs an acoustic signal
after 24 hours without current flow.
Other alarms can also be connected. The
power unit supplies up to 30 Powadorgo
units.
We recommend using Powador-go
for monitoring up to seven inverters.
For larger systems, the Powador-proLOG
is the more economic alternative.
Large display.
Powador-view.
The large display can be used with all
KACO photovoltaic inverters and can be
directly controlled via the S0 interface on
the Powador inverters or the S0 interface
on the Powador-proLOG. The display
processes current counter pulses to determine
the rest of the operating data:
current power,
daily work,
and total yield.
Optional: CO 2 savings
You do not need an additional adapter
or data logger. If your system has no
Powador-proLOG or you are using multiple
inverters, we offer a suitable current
counter. If you already have a pulsing
counter or are planning on purchasing
one, we can usually adapt the display to
work with it.
Data security
The total work value is saved in nonvolatile
memory on a regular basis and is
therefore secure during a power failure or
if the system reboots. The counter for the
daily work is automatically reset to zero
each night.
Customised design
Two standard designs are available. The
texts and logos can be changed to fit
the project. You can also use photo templates.
The four-colour front panels (UV
system) are protected by acrylic glass and
are laminated to make them weatherproof.
Setting options
You can press a button to preset the total
energy value to a start value. The kWh
are then added up starting at this value.
Powador PV-pilot.
The free system design program.
Powador PV-pilot is a free program that
is used for professional design and yield
simulation of grid-connected photovoltaic
systems. It replaces KACOCALC
Pro. Calculations are based on the technical
data of all KACO inverters, several
hundred PV module types, and average
radiation values for the last 10 years in
the Federal Republic of Germany.
You can use Powador PV-pilot to design
your entire system based on the module
data that is already stored or using key
figures that you enter yourself. You can
also calculate the projected yield and the
loss from AC and DC lines, to include the
loss during single-phase and three-phase
feed-in.
The program is available in German, English,
Spanish, Italian, Czech, and French,
and is compatible with the Windows
operating system.
Powador PV-pilot offers the following functions:
PV system design
You can find out which KACO inverters
are suited for your system based on
module type and number of modules.
The power of the modules in relation
to the inverter power, the MPP voltage
at high module temperatures, the open
circuit voltage at low module temperatures,
and the system voltage of the
modules are taken into account.
Yield
An average annual irradiance value is
stored for each postcode. The direction
and installation angle of the modules
are factored in with this irradiance value
to calculate the projected yield. The projected
yield is a conservative estimate
that is normally surpassed during actual
operation.
Inverter design
For a larger number of a specific module
type, the program will calculate how
many modules and strings can be connected
to the individual inverters.
Cable loss calculation
The cable loss calculation is divided into
three sub-groups: DC cable loss, AC cable
loss, and three-phase AC cable loss.
This means that you can calculate individual
types of cable loss. For cable loss
on the DC side, you can also factor in
generator junction boxes.
PV modules
All common PV modules are stored in a
list that is continuously updated. If your
module is not included in the list, you can
easily add new modules using an entry
form. The modules you add are retained
after updates.
