The regulations have been laid down by the Dean of LUC, having obtained the approval and advice of the Academic Board, the Staff Student Committee, the Examinations Committee, and the Faculty Council of Campus Den Haag. The regulations take effect on August 1, 2012 and apply to the academic year 2012-2013. 68 aCaDeMiC rULes aND regULaTioNs ART. 1.2 - DEFINITIONS In these regulations the following terms have the following meanings: act the Higher Education and Research Act [Wet op het hoger onderwijs en wetenschappelijk onderzoek] (WHW). BachelOr’s examiNatiON final examination of the degree programme BlOck a period of 7 teaching weeks, plus a reading week (ie. 8 weeks); each semester consists of 2 blocks c.B.e. College van Beroep voor de Examens. Board of Appeal for Examinations caPstONe the concluding educational experience/project at LUC class a group of no more than 20 students taking a specific course. A course may have multiple classes, sometimes with different instructors, depending on the number of students enrolled cONveNOr the faculty member responsible for organizing a course cOre part of the degree programme consisting of courses compulsory for all students cOurse catalOgue register, kept under the responsibility of the Directors of Studies, of the courses offered by LUC The Hague cOurse a study unit of the programme as defined in Section 7.3 of the Act. The study load of each course is expressed as whole credits. Every course involves assessment. A course may be taught in a number of classes. credit the unit expressing the study load of a course, pursuant to the Act. According to the ECTS, one credit equals 28 hours of study.
