Issue date 2004-11-19 - Catalogue AS-Interface 2004/2005 7 Photoelectric AS-Interface Sensors AS-Interface - Photoelectric sensors Photoelectric sensors play a central role today when the goal is to detect or monitor objects without touching them. They are used wherever various objects must be positioned, classified, or counted. The applications range from the automobile industry, machine design, and assembly automation to warehousing and conveyor systems, packaging machines, the printing and paper industries, the textile industry, and safety systems. Various versions of the photoelectric sensors with AS-Interface interface are available. These include rectangular housings with terminal box or M12 connectors, and also VariKont M housings. One particular feature is the support of the new specification 2.1 of the bus protocol. For the first time, there is a line of photoelectric sensors for this extended standard. One of the most important changes is the doubling of the number of AS-Interface slaves which one master can control, from 31 to 62, which significantly increases the attraction of the AS-Interface.
