104 Stay & Sail Stay and Sail is a unique holiday and is a fantastic option for everybody, whether or not you can already sail. If you are a complete beginner our qualified instructors can teach you to sail in just four days. You can join the course on your own, as a family or with friends. Or if you already know a thing or two about sailing, you can take a flotilla refresher course and brush up your skills to give your confidence a boost.
Learn to Sail (Flotilla Skipper) course (5 days) Guests on our Stay and Sail holidays who have never sailed before will find our ‘Flotilla Skipper’ course the perfect introduction to sailing and skippering your own yacht. The course covers the RYA Competent Crew syllabus and elements of the RYA Day Skipper qualification so that you have the knowledge and skills necessary to skipper a yacht in a flotilla environment. Your ‘Flotilla Skipper’ skills can be learnt in five days; whilst learning you will be hopping from pontoon to quayside to bay to harbour, occasionally stopping for picnics, taverna lunches or swimming, you will have plenty of time to digest all that you are learning at a relaxed but steady pace. The course is run on a training yacht, with a maximum of five guests plus instructor per yacht. You can book the yacht training for private use or just book a space - call us to discuss your requirements. Your five days training will take place in the first week and will leave you a few days to relax and enjoy the facilities on offer at the Beachclub. At the end of your course you’ll feel confident and competent enough to skipper your own yacht on one of our flotilla weeks, you will also be awarded the RYA Competent Crew certificate and we will be able to complete your logbook with the miles covered counting towards your next training steps of RYA Day Skipper. For your piece of mind and our own, our dedicated flotilla lead boat and crew will be on hand to offer their full support during your week afloat. The ‘Flotilla Skipper’ course is from £230 per person. Flotilla Refresher Course (2 days) Ideal for those who are feeling a little rusty and haven’t sailed for a while, the course is tailored around your existing experience and looks to build your ability to sail confidently once more. You will spend two days with one of our RYA instructors who will assist you in practising and reviewing the skills you wish to improve. This refresher course is also suitable for confident, advanced dinghy sailors who sail regularly at a high level and enables them to transfer well-practised dinghy skills onto a larger class of boat and thus gain the skills needed to skipper a yacht on one of our flotillas. Beginner or intermediate dinghy sailors should book the ‘Flotilla Skipper’ course. The Flotilla Refresher course is from £130 per person. Private Courses – Ideal for Families Our Private Flotilla Skipper and Flotilla Refresher Courses are designed for groups or families who wish to learn together, on the same yacht, up to a maximum of five people. The course content is the same as detailed above but you are guaranteed to be learning as one group without having to share your training yacht with another party. The added advantage of a private course is that we can welcome 13-15 year olds aboard when accompanied by a parent. Younger sailors will relish the opportunity to learn with their family as a forerunner to the flotilla week of their holiday. 105
