development. UAE‟s government mission <strong>for</strong> better education and <strong>the</strong><br />

countries ambition <strong>for</strong> competence <strong>in</strong> terms <strong>of</strong> its construction directed<br />

this study.<br />

The research methodology uses a survey <strong>of</strong> various educational<br />

practices <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> field <strong>of</strong> architecture <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> UАE via onl<strong>in</strong>e search, <strong>the</strong><br />

researcher‟s personal observation, and focus group sessions. In <strong>the</strong><br />

course <strong>of</strong> this study, <strong>the</strong> researcher considered <strong>in</strong>vestigat<strong>in</strong>g various<br />

resources. The researcher used methodology tested <strong>in</strong> previous<br />

studies, <strong>the</strong> researcher started with а thorough and broad review <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong><br />

available literature, because <strong>the</strong> UAE is a relatively newly developed<br />

country – less than four decades old it was a complex task to extract<br />

enough literature concern<strong>in</strong>g education and o<strong>the</strong>r important aspects due<br />

to <strong>the</strong> lack <strong>of</strong> documentation. This research also <strong>in</strong>cludes different<br />

comments and feedback <strong>of</strong> teachers and guides <strong>in</strong> architecture<br />

education <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> UАE. The f<strong>in</strong>d<strong>in</strong>gs and conclusions are based on <strong>the</strong><br />

evaluation <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> experiment and <strong>the</strong> case study.<br />

The researcher used а number <strong>of</strong> sources to conduct <strong>the</strong> secondary<br />

data collection approach, <strong>in</strong>clud<strong>in</strong>g library visits and use <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Internet.<br />

The researcher visited <strong>the</strong> libraries to ga<strong>the</strong>r valuable data from<br />

available sources. The electronic journals are also very rich and<br />

updated. The researcher utilised <strong>the</strong> Internet as a major tool to obta<strong>in</strong><br />

relevant <strong>in</strong><strong>for</strong>mation by search<strong>in</strong>g <strong>for</strong> articles <strong>in</strong> journals and newspapers<br />

from database.<br />

Primary Data Collection Method <strong>in</strong> Phase 1<br />

� Interviews<br />

In phase one, <strong>in</strong>terviews were conducted after <strong>the</strong> focus group session.<br />

The purpose <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> <strong>in</strong>terviews was merely to validate <strong>the</strong> <strong>in</strong><strong>for</strong>mation<br />

collected from <strong>the</strong> students. For this reason, <strong>the</strong> <strong>in</strong>terviews take <strong>the</strong><br />

<strong>for</strong>m <strong>of</strong> casual conversations whenever <strong>the</strong> researcher found an<br />

opportunity to talk to a lecturer <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> UAEU after one <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> focus group<br />

sessions. AUS lecturers are <strong>in</strong>terviewed to ascerta<strong>in</strong> that <strong>the</strong> learn<strong>in</strong>g<br />
